HV-maxx

Is the NOvak HV-maxx a good brushless??
right now im running stock titans with dual gp3300
but i smoked one of the titans so im considering upgrading from brushed to brushless?
if so wut gearing should i use with the HV??

Dafni 06.27.2005 04:25 AM

If you're looking for a mild BL which requires a minimum on drive-line upgrades, get the HV.
If you would like to get more power, get something else, such as the Feigao/Warrior combo. (winds depend on cell count)

If you're a carefull driver, the stock driveline might survive quite a while.

captain harlock 06.27.2005 04:33 AM

I suggest that you go with the HV system since you will truly see a noticeable increase in time and speed over the brushed one. In the future you might want to get a more advanced power plant for your truck which needs to be modified to some extinct in order to tolerate the higher powers of the new power plant. When that time comes this place is the right one to turn to. About the gearing of the HV, just use the same spur and pinion that came with the stock Maxx and you might be able to add a teeth or so if you want a little more of speed.

Shadow350Z 06.27.2005 12:30 PM

but ive heard that the HV thermals with the stock pinion and spurs

captain harlock 06.27.2005 01:07 PM

Possibally they're using heavy hopups. The HV is 370 watts rated brushless motor (pretty weak compared to other motors of its class).....??!!..!!..????.....Oh YEAH I forgot. Why dont you get the basic 4200 with a 7018 esc from here for quite a reasonable price and almost the same as the Novak system, but twice the power of the Novak? This setup is incredible if you use it with the stock E-MAXX. Believe me its a satisfying choice that will not disappoint you at all.

Shadow350Z 06.27.2005 01:12 PM

problem is i cant order anything via online escept for the cheap stuff like things under 50 bucks
cuz my dad is the only one can order for me
and he doesnt want to buy expensive stuff
so i have to buy my own brushless
I have 200 bucks right now
I buy my RC parts at PegasusHobbies... do you think they will have the basic 4200 and the 7018 esc?

captain harlock 06.27.2005 01:18 PM

Please dont take it the wrong way, but how old are you? that might help a bit.

revoman 2.5 06.27.2005 04:38 PM

I am planning to get the Feigao9L/Warrior combo
I would not reccomend the HV maxx cuz in some cases they have burned or caught on fire :W:
I like the system but its not fast enough for me lol
I just wanted you to be warned

Shadow350Z 06.27.2005 05:42 PM

im 17

Serum 06.27.2005 05:56 PM

old enough for a real setup if you ask me! ;)

the hvmaxx is nice, but it just replaces the stock titans, with a bit more runtime, smoothness and topspeed/torque..

Good for the stock drivetrain!

Shadow350Z 06.27.2005 11:41 PM

yeah thats why im going with the HV dont have much money for parts
im saving up for a Nissan 350Z 6-speed manual

Shadow350Z 06.28.2005 01:20 AM

would the HV be good for racing and bashing?
and would you guys think PegasusHobbies would have the brushless motors and ESCs like the ones here on this sites shop

captain harlock 06.28.2005 07:27 AM

I've never scanned every single place in the website to tell you the truth, but my guess is no I dont think they do since these systems are seldom to find in most hobby shops and this place (rc-monster.com) is not a hobby shop IMO, but rather a place for brushless supplies and monster/stadium trucks shop. I like...no..I love it to be honest. Then again go for the HV if you were not able to get the Lehners or Feigaos, because your truck is stock after all and the HV will surely deliver you at least a 32
+mph speed run if not higher which is much higher than the 22mph the titans usually give out.

Shadow350Z 06.28.2005 10:37 AM

if I get an HV now is it possible to buy another HV l8r and make it dual HV? using 4 batt packs with the G2 race chassis
will it be faster?

captain harlock 06.28.2005 10:58 AM

Yup, it is and I think it will add serious speed as well, but you need another controller. Cantya make orders from here instead of Pegasus? then you can have a real brushless system instead of the HV( The Novak HV is not bad at all, though).

Shadow350Z 06.28.2005 12:38 PM

you know i would if I could order from here

if its dual HV-maxxes i can go higher pinion teeth and lower spur without worrying it will thermal right?

captain harlock 06.28.2005 03:54 PM

Yes it could be possible, but make sure that you dont over do it okay.

Shadow350Z 06.28.2005 04:14 PM

hehe yeah
I'm getting my HV by next week i Hope

im wondering how would you wire 2 ESCs into one reciever slot

captain harlock 06.28.2005 05:13 PM

Now this is something I've never tried to tell the truth. You could ask the pros if you like.

Dafni 06.28.2005 05:20 PM

Just an Y-harness, I think. Or cut the wires and solder them yourself!
Same as with servos, but I never tried it myself on ESC's.

Shadow350Z 06.28.2005 05:39 PM

for u people who bought the HVmaxx b4
when you bought yours did everything came solderd and ready to go??
no need for soldering the HV-maxx and the ESC it came with?

RC-Monster Mike 06.28.2005 06:38 PM

well, I do take money orders, you know! You could get a much better system for the price of two HV systems as well!

captain harlock 06.28.2005 07:04 PM

You dont get it yet Miky. He cant order, but only from Pegasushobbies. I already tried to make him take a better system from here, but it seems a bit difficult for him.

Shadow350Z 06.28.2005 07:04 PM

uhh yeah but my dad cant know
hes strict
he'll go crzy on me if he finds out how much

so back to the question i posted ^^
does the HV-maxx comes everything soldered?
like I dont need to solder the motor to the esc ?

RC-Monster Mike 06.28.2005 07:07 PM

Yes, the HV maxx is ready to go out of the box.

Shadow350Z 06.28.2005 07:12 PM

thas good cuz i dont have a soldering iron
and never soldered anything b4

RC-Monster Mike 06.28.2005 07:20 PM

Then the HV is taylor made for you!

Shadow350Z 06.28.2005 07:21 PM

yup
I'm happy with the HV
ill jus add another HV l8r on to make it go faster

captain harlock 06.28.2005 08:52 PM

Going from 22mph to dual HV is a bit reckless. Start with singular setup first and spend a while with it before going to dual HV.

Shadow350Z 06.28.2005 08:59 PM

uhh yeah thats wut i said
ima buy jus one HV right now
then after I buy a g2 alum chassis and g3 race susp ima buy a couple more 7cell gp3300 and another HV

Shadow350Z 06.29.2005 03:08 AM

question!!!
i was wondering if the HV-maxx can handle gp3300 7cells...
I think my titans caught on fire is because of my gp3300 7cells

captain harlock 06.29.2005 08:38 AM

There is absolutely no problem in using them with The HV.

Shadow350Z 06.29.2005 04:56 PM

thas good to hear last week when i was running my Maxx
both my titans caught on fire and i think it damaged the EVX too now when i turn on the EVX the red led jus blinks

captain harlock 06.29.2005 07:38 PM

But wait..the HV is running on fire with 2x 7 cells. The 14 cells pack is the limit for both the esc and the motor so just stick to 12 cells and you will be very happy.

Shadow350Z 06.29.2005 08:26 PM

i dont got no dual 6 cells
i only have one pair of 7cell gp3300

one more question
after this HV-maxx ima sve up to get the g2 xchassis and hopefully another HV
how would i put 4 7cell batts into teh chassis?
the batt i bought are already soldered 2together I can unsolder them myself and solder them side by side right?
are the batts still usable if i unsolder em???

how would i fit 2 sidebyside 7cells into one side of the g2 chassis?

RC-Monster Mike 06.29.2005 09:06 PM

You could build two 14 cell packs with the cells, as long as you have a charger that can charge them.

Shadow350Z 06.30.2005 02:24 AM

nope i only have a duratrax Intellipeak twin pulse

will the g3 straps hold down the extra 7cells?

captain harlock 06.30.2005 06:36 PM

Yes they will.

Shadow350Z 06.30.2005 09:41 PM

ok thnx
my plan after the HV-maxx is get the g2 chassis then save up for another HV

Shadow350Z 07.02.2005 04:19 PM

im getting my HV today or 2morrow or monday
and a 12T pinion and 70spur do you guys think it will go fast still with that low of gears??
