Traxxas "NEXT" is....
|
Something to do with water given the water droplets and all. Possibly a boat or some type of H2O proof truck.
|
It will be a Brushless H2O Fuel Cell Car... Please?
...Hovercraft? ...lawsuit from Trinity? |
My guess is a brushless VXL-powered boat.
|
I hope its a car... the water could just be for effect.
|
Hopefully it's something to do with cars. It would be a bit disappointing if it's something to do with a boat.
|
I don't think it has to do with a boat at all. That would be one weird looking hull with that design, and it doesn't resemble a hull either. It looks like some kinda Revo or Jato body. The raised portion would make me believe its a car body, since that on a hull would serve no other purpose but to create drag, which would be stupid.

here is my post on traxxas forums

Traxxas just love doing this to us! I bet the employees just sit there watching the forums, having a good laugh at our ideas and speculations lol.
As for me, I hope it's a brushless Revo/E-Maxx, or something along those lines...but I really don't know. |
The fastest growing market right now seems to be 1/8th, so if they are market driven then thats what its going to be. If they are customer driven, it'll be an electric/brushless version of one of their existing trucks or cars (possibly even the 4-tec).
And now that I've thought more about it, I think it would really be a benefit to have Traxxas enter the 1/8th market. After researching which 1/8th truggy I wanted, there is really a lack of differentiating engineering technology in the 1/8th field. All of the current buggys/truggys share the same basic systems/layout, most of them resembling the mariage of a 4wd pan car with an RC10. Nothing near as advanced as the Revo, possibly even a Savage. |
Are they familiar with boats?
I thought they're only into cars and trucks.. |
what about a 1/18th rtr brushless vehicle..?
|
It looks like a lexan body to me, maybe the side right above the rear wheel?!
|
I would LMAO if it was a brushless Revo the week Tekno released their conversion kit.
That being said, the word "Next" implies some sort of revolutionary or future-oriented product (at least so they/we hope.) I don't think sway bars or small parts would fit into this :) The last time TRX did this w/ the V it was pretty big news and groundbreaking. It has to be something pretty big or they are aiming for a big let down. So far TRX has been too smart to do this. It may be a BL boat, but like already said, it would be a weirdly shaped and colored hull. Given our luck it is a fricken boat tho. However, I am putting my money down on something BL, god hope a 1/8th MT, like the Revo. I know TRX has been buying and studying 3rd party BL speed controlls (ie Quark, MGM etc.) A BL Emaxx successor will come eventually.. maybe in time for the holidays? A jato? Maybe, but they just did the Rusty, so IDK. Would dilute the market for the VXLs a bit, OTOH they already have the system and just needed the Jato chassis for it. A truggy? TRX has to make one eventually, but I'm hoping for something else. |

My computer won't open whatever it is they have in the feature pane either. I think this is the first time that has ever occured on their site. |
A 1/18th traxxas? that would be kinda cool... I'd love to see a mini revo...
I'd have to agree with everyone that said "existing vehicle + BL system" Its the most cost effective way for traxxas to put out a "new" vehicle. An E-4tec would be sweet. |
i would think the easiest step for them to take would be brushless 4tec as implied earlier, but the wet pic is a wildcard. looking at the pic, it looks like their triditional paint sceem on a body. i'll just through vxl 4tec as my final answer.

Sorry had to do it.... unlike castle only 42 hours not 42 months to wait...

i know what it is!
refreshing traxxas soda. code named TraxxaPop. they're coming out with the zero calorie version first, called Next TP. don't the beads of sweat make you thirsty? |

I think ya'll are reading WAY to far into it. First off, I think the water drops are to throw you off, or at the least for effect. It just looks cool. Second, its not a boat. That would make NO sense what so ever. There boats aren't something they obviously focus on and I don't think they would make much money at ALL off of boats. Third, its not something revamped I don't think. I don't remember ANYTHING out of the ordinary like this when they only revamped the Revo, Maxx, Rustler etc. Besides, why would there be a countdown. There wasn't even a count down for the big huge V, which was a huge mystery and ground breaking. I HONESTLY think its a new vehicle. Nitro or electric. Probably electric since they just came out with the Velineon system and obviously see theres a market for high powered electric r/c's. Its gonna be something great, I know that much. I think its gonna be something like a E-Revo, since if you think about it, the Revo only came out a couple years ago. Why would they come out with something else. See how long it took for them to replace the Maxx? New platform, i.e. truggy, buggy-yes; new nitro mt-no; new electric mt-yes. Ya just gotta think about it. Traxxas wouldn't make a huge deal over something as simple as a revamp. They didn't for ANY other r/c they've revamped yet.
|
Hands up who lives near to the TRX HQ? Do us a favour and have a look through the office window will you, I hate suspense. Bet its a VXL boat though, just to annoy everyone. Trouble is, I would probably buy it as long as it was:
A = fast. B = looked good C = reasonable price. Saves me a lot of hassle trying to figure out which model to buy and which parts to use if everything I need is in a nice rtr package. Actually, a 24" BL boat with twin VXLs would be rather fantastic, if you like boats that is... |
Here is a screenshot of the NEXT on the home page for those of you that can't see it.

I'm thinking its a vxl 4-tec as the electric 4-tecs have been discontinued.
phil |
perhaps one of those new bicycles you can get at walmart?
|
maybe a 1/36 4wd truck!! thas what im hoping for at least...
but ya that would be cool if it were another mini! but why the water droplets!?!? makes no sence! maybe there just trying to throw us all off!! and i would agree with jtheissen that its probably something with 1/8. or at least if traxxas was thinking correctly it should be some type of 1/8 truggy/buggy. but we will see tomorow! |

I don't think NEXT will even be the name of whatever Traxxas comes out with. Maybe Traxxas just used NEXT to refer to "what is coming next in the Traxxas line of vehicles".
|
How about "Nobody Ever eXpected This" So we're all gonna be wrong.
|
I think a mini is out of the question as well. I can almost guarantee its not a mini. It wouldn't seem theres a huge market for them since there is already so many awesome minis. Also, like I said, I HIGHLY doubt its a r/c thats already out. They NEVER made a huge deal about a revamp. Its something big, not just some 4-Tec I don't think. You also have to take into consideration there push to sell E-Maxx's as well as T-Maxx's. I think that being the case, since they've already come out with a new nitro MT recently (Revo), its a electric MT and their making way for it. Perhaps phasing out the Maxx trucks slowly and going with the Revo's. That would make more sense. Why have 2 pair of nitro/electric MT's when one is clearly far superior?
|
Plus the maxx sell, a free pipe
And the Emaxx comes with big bores I think its a new MT |
A brushless RTR Revo with 2.4ghz. :yipi:
|
Maybe "NEXT" means the next frontier, so maybe it's an rc space ship.....yeah, it's gotta be that.
I don't think it will be a mini, I don't think they'd make such a big deal of it, plus the size of the water droplets make the body look too big for a mini. "NEXT" does make it sound to me like it's going to be something very different...so my money's on a space ship. |
Patrick- I think you're spot on with that spaceship idea. :na:
|
The 2.4ghz wouldn't be that unheard of. They've had the TQ2 and 3 for several years. I would think that since Losi started included it in alot of theirs, even some minis, it would make sense to go to 2.4ghz.
