truggy conversion idea

Hi everybody this is just a idea so dont laugh. Has anybody thought of converting a hot bodies lsp with a emaxx tranny. I now bpp does it with a diff but i thought a tranny would be eaiser. What are your thoughts ?. I had a buddy convert a kyosho buggy with a emaxx tranny it was pretty cool.

MetalMan 07.05.2005 10:04 AM

The E-Maxx tranny is kind of heavy, isn't it? Also, it puts the motor(s) up higher, so that raises the COG. The diff is good because it can give you better braking into corners.

rchippie 07.05.2005 05:27 PM

Thats true the tranny is heavier. But it would be eaiser then the diff, because the tranny has a place to mount the motor and speedo. It was just a idea to stir up conversation

Dafni 07.05.2005 05:33 PM

I agree with MetalMan.
Diff or E-tranny, both have their advantages. For bashing the tranny would do fine, but for racing I would go for the diff. If you can get the gearing right, then you've already won, crafting a motormount is not too hard.

MetalMan 07.05.2005 05:46 PM

As Dafni said, making a motor mount is not difficult. That is, as long as you have the tools. I have made at least 10 different motor mounts (for different vehicles), so the diff would be much easier to work with. Or, I could do it my style - a center shaft with an inline Revo slipper clutch with a Monster GT mod1 spur mounted onto it (this is what I did to my 1/8 BL/Lipo buggy).

Dafni 07.06.2005 01:47 AM

MetalMan, do you have a close-up of this inline Revo slipper setup?

MetalMan 07.06.2005 10:16 AM

Yep!

Dafni 07.06.2005 10:56 AM

Thanks, looks good. Is this the stock spur?
Would you mind to share the gearing numbers? Or is there a thread about this rig somewhere?
Would like to know more about this buggy.

squeeforever 07.06.2005 01:38 PM

i plan on making a custom chassis for my e-maxx outa lexan until i can get a g2. its gonna lower the batteries like the g2 or others like it, but i think i am gonna use a differencial out of a buggy. would i lose more power through the center diff? what would be some disadvantages?

squeeforever 07.06.2005 01:38 PM

im not very familier with the center diff so any help would be appreciated

MetalMan 07.06.2005 05:33 PM

Diffs are usually good, as they can improved braking into corners.

Dafni - the spur gear is a Kimbrough Monster GT 52t mod1 gear. I can also get 46 and 49t gears. Pinion is a 13t mod1. Diff ratio is 13/43. Motor is a Feigao 8L.
If you want, I can start a new thread with all the specs and pictures.

Dafni 07.06.2005 05:39 PM

Yeah, would be great!

New idea here guys. What do you think about converting trhe new JAMMIN crt truggy to BL ?. I think it would be awsome.

Serum 10.15.2005 03:53 AM

Jammin RULES!

about your emaxx on the LSP idea;

It would be impossible, because the batteries need all the space there is, you know my lsp>brushless conversion? i needed to replace the diff allready, and it has got a smaller footprint than the emaxx transmission.

dabid 10.15.2005 03:53 AM

Serum converted a Hot Bodies LSP into a BL basher, he's got some really cool pics if he shows up. ;)

rchippie 10.15.2005 04:46 AM

I've seen it its hot. I just thought the JAMMIN would be another good choice.

Serum 10.15.2005 06:10 AM

I showed up just before you this morning Dabid! ;)

check site two of this thread.
here are the pics

crazyjr 10.15.2005 12:23 PM

Hey Serum. Do you have a video of that truck

Serum 10.15.2005 01:08 PM

No, it belongs to someone else at this time.

It was fast, it did even wheelie with a centerdiff with 50K oil in it.

Gustav 10.15.2005 01:44 PM

I'm gettin' a CRT pro.:D :D :D Expected mid november.I'm a little excited.

rchippie 10.15.2005 04:27 PM

Gustav please keep is informed when you get it. It is supossed to be a awsome truggy. Are you going to keep it nitro or go BL ?.

Gustav 10.15.2005 04:36 PM

Nitro for racing.I know you and Mike and others have the right idea with the lighter race set ups but at the moment purely for racing i'm thinking Nitro.Probably an EB mods .28 Rossi or Sirio .27R.

rchippie 10.16.2005 04:51 PM

Serum what do you and Daf think about coverting this truggy to BL. I think it would be the shizzel LOL>

Serum 10.16.2005 04:54 PM

The jammin Hippie?

I would use a CF motorplate to make it BL for sure...

Or what truck do you mean?

rchippie 10.16.2005 05:29 PM

Ya the jammin truggy. It would be killer i think.

Way to go! Certainly a nice platform.

With a center diff, Revos give nice "truggies", too. IMHO

rchippie 10.17.2005 01:55 AM

It nice but i'm only dreaming LOL!!!.

crazyjr 10.17.2005 06:59 AM

Hey Dafni. On the traxxas forums, in the Revo section, there is a thread where one of the traxxas team drivers built a Revo truggy. I' talking lowered chassis, center diff, long wheelbase everything that makes a truggy a truggy.

Dafni 10.17.2005 07:32 AM

Basically, on our non-smoker planet, this means G-Revo plus centerdiff, for example. Right?

Or, 8th scale converted buggy chassis with Revo front/rear ends!?

I'll take the G! But the center diffy is mandatory this time.

Serum 10.17.2005 09:41 AM

Go ahead Daniel make post # 1000!!!!

Dafni 10.17.2005 02:22 PM

Oh, I didn't even notice! Well here it is, my 1000th post here!
Time flies, lads. Doesn't it? :)

Had some funny moments with these forum sites glowing in front of me.

This is a moving moment, boys. [sob sob] Reminds me of how fast we get old.
Nbcaz would ask for a price, you know.:p

Keep going, gang!

The 1/8 scale buggy version nitro with Revo front/rear ends, but wouldn't be that hard to go from there.

go the 1/8 brushless .. cheap ( roller 200 odd ) strong , diffs and cvds are tough as and handle brushless no probs , also lots of parts , diffs tuning / diff oil/ tosen etc

pic attached my hyper 7 pbs with bk9920 , 9L , 13 t pinion

Serum 01.04.2006 05:32 AM

Sly118; Digging up older topics mate!? Got bored of your vacation? :p

sly118 01.04.2006 05:53 AM

Serum 01.04.2006 07:16 AM

2 months on a forum is like 200 years in real life...

Never heard about that rule of thumb?

HB maxx 01.08.2006 09:03 AM

Just read that you would like a video of the brushless LSP that Serum build. I'm working on them ;)
