Which Speed/Radar Speed Gun

Which Speed/Radar Speed Gun are you all using and are you happy with it?

cart213 11.17.2007 12:33 PM

I use a garmin etrex gps unit that I'm happy with.

ClodMaxx 11.17.2007 02:12 PM

i have an etrex as well and like it (plus i use it when mountain biking on long complicated trails where i worry about getting lost).

a good radar gun would be more accurate though. my etrex just gives me a general idea.

I have been using my Garmin also...I just wanted to see what radar gun options were worht looking into.

Bushnell makes one that costs about $75...the specs say that it can clock softball size objects (within 100 feet) going up to 110mph.

The Bushnell works well. I have used mine for about 6 months and it works very well. We have radared everything from small rcs and boats to full size cars and trucks. Well worth the $75 dollars.

Wow...thanks...looks like I'll be making an investment.

I hate to say it but they don't work very well at all. Couldn't clock a LST at anything over 30km/h.

What are the options with gps. The bushnell seems to be the way to go as far as radar goes.

It would be nice to get a gps receiver which could transmit the data to a mobile/pda. That way it could be really small. My friend has gps in his phone but he is too scared to stick his phone in one of the trucks.

Boooooo Hissssssss Booooo

I still like my toy. I've heard that you have to be going directly towards or away from the gun to clock it. Did you take it out of 1/64 scale mode?

Yeah we tried everything. It worked when the trucks were going under about 30km/h once we cranked them up it wouldn't work. I even got hit a couple of times trying different angles. You may have more luck then we did. Give it a go.
