New Conversion Kit From FLM
This is from Jamie at Fast Lane:
"BRUSHLESS CONVERSION We have a new TVP available as a brushless conversion. What we did was machine out a section of our Ext LCG TVP by the motor mount to accomodate a brushless motor. So now you have a brushless motor that can sit low to reduce the center of gravity. The kit is available in 2 versions for now. One for current TVP owners. What you get is one side TVP, and motor mount. The other kit will include both TVPs one standard side and one brushless conversion side, motor mount and driveshaft. We include the standard side to enable you to mount a 4s lipo on the inside next to the motor (it gives you something to strap the battery down to). It looks very nice when assembled. I will have some pics and part #s available sometime today. It does look like a 5s lipo will fit bit I cannot say for sure because I do not have one." It will be interesting to see this. |
What did you do to get an answer from him? it took me 7 emails without 1 single reply..
|
Is that the reason FLM's site was closed last night?
|
Serum, he never answers me either. I copied that from the Savage-Central forums. I still think Mike's setup will be better.

Yeah I just tried it, maybe their updating it.

What exactly has FLM got in the works?
|
sounds interesting. hope there are some pics soooon.
bye rhylsadar |
I am also very curious as to what FLM is working on.
Their website is still not working as well... |
Yeah what's going on with the flm web site. I wan't to see.

I worked with Jamie on this - we are still working out the battery mount, but the motor mount uses my current Revo motor mount front plate and rear support. The TVP is relieved to allow adjustment of the motor beyond the tvp. The picture shows a 3700mah 4s Apache/Enerland pack installed. I have these on order of course -just working out final details on the battery mount strategy. :)

FastLane's site has been down for a couple days, but I know they are working o getting it back up - emails are most likely not getting through.
Rene - I think Jamie finally replied to you as well. :) |
Hey Mike, I'm guessing by the pictures a 4s 8000mAh lipo will not fit. right?
Bye:mdr: |
Mike, what shocks are on that Savage?
|
The Maxamps lipos have a slightly smaller foot print than the one in the truck now(MA packs are slightly shorter and narrower). It would probably fit, but would be about twice as tall. :)
|
LST shocks, Troy. :)
|
Mike, will motors longer than the Feigaos, like a Neu 1521, fit on the new TVP's? Also, are you still going to offer the center diff option?
Thanks! |

I'm sorry for not pointing out, I'm using TrueRc 50mm wide 8000mAh lipo. Also it looks like it would hit the transmission output shaft. Bye:mdr: |
I am also wondering if a TrueRC 8000mAH pack would fit... preferably a 6s pack.
I really like the look of this Savage. From what I can tell, there will be a tranny instead of a center diff? What will the space at the front of the truck between the TVP's be used for? I'll have a tough time deciding between this and a truggy for a next project... |
|
Thats nice looking.
|
Yeah Mike, i got it.
Where exactly does the controller go? I think you should make a brace that holds it on top of the transmission. Doesn't this conversion makes a huge imbalance in weight? An electric motor weights as much as a nitro engine, excluding the batteries. And is there enough room between the gearbox and the motormount to clear the mechanical brakes? |
Mine's better:na: haha j/k, its good to hear that you worked with Jamie on this Mike, the conversion looks very clean indeed and should be a great seller for sure. It does look a little heavy in the rear end though, but I'm sure the controller and misc. items in the front should level it out a bit. Great job.
|
I just hope Mike doesn't cancel his plans to bring out his center diff design. The FLM conversion doesn't look like it will work with the longer Neu motors.
|
I wouldnt have thought you'd need a motor that enormous (bigger than XL or 1515) to move the thing, it cant be that heavy surely?
|
The 1521 works better for bashers than the 1515. I like large tires, Moabs, Big Joes ect. on my trucks and that puts a strain on any motor. The 1521 gives wheelie popping power while keeping things very cool. LOL-I had a set of 8 1/2 inch Jumbo Kongs on and was doing 40 foot long wheelies. I also like to throw on a set of sand paddle tires and go hill climbing. The 1515 I had was at its torque limit and my 1950 Lehner was beyond its limit. Feigao? HaHaHa poor Feigao de-magnetized.

Eek!....
|
When is this puppy going to be available for us mere mortals to buy?
