Ninmaxx 11.21.2007 12:58 AM

Yes as soon as the packages come pictures will be posted.

mkrusedc 11.21.2007 01:37 AM

Sounds excellent! What kind of electrics are you planning?

Ninmaxx 11.21.2007 02:21 AM

A Nomadio React Transmitter/Transciever, Hitec HS5955 servo,
and either the Mamba Monster Max or the Tekin R1MT.

mmdooley 11.21.2007 03:46 AM

Looks like it's going to be Bad Ass!!.

neweuser 11.21.2007 12:41 PM

I like the sounds of it. A few questions.

1) why order standard center cvd's? The extended chassis comes with the shafts?

2) FLM skids, I think you might want some GA Ti skids....IMO.

3) the turnbuckles are awsome, you will need to mod them I believe to get them to fit, so you might want to get the the Revo ends to go on those (I think crazyjr used those and worked good?)

Other than that, great list man.....it is definitly going to be X-Mas for you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

suicideneil 11.21.2007 02:03 PM

The FLM extended chassis comes with the extended rear center shaft, but no front, hence the standard length ones (just sell the rear stock length one!)

GARC or HCR Ti skids ( I got a front one) are seriously kick butt, but this seems to be an FLM & GorillaMaxx themed truck by the looks of it....

neweuser 11.21.2007 02:13 PM

Makes sense. I forget that the front shaft is still normal length. It has been a long time since I had to do anything with those.
I used to run aluminum skids, until they bent, caused tons of problems for me. But, if he wants to keep the theme, then it makes sense.....

Ninmaxx 11.21.2007 03:16 PM

The skidplates from FLM are pretty cheap so why not try them if I don't like them I'll probally go to titanium. I bought the Revo ends from Tower Hobby there on the list. BTW everygthing is being shipped today!:yipi:
Can I get a link to those titanium skidplates?

Duster_360 11.21.2007 03:26 PM

http://greatassemblyrc.com/

I have twe sets and they're they best ones I've ever used. Beat them up and when it comes clean up time some 400/600 grit paper and a little time and they're like new again.

Ninmaxx 11.21.2007 04:55 PM

Sweet I'll order those.

JERRY2KONE 11.21.2007 05:07 PM

Wow!!

Either you hit the lottery, got cash for your birthday,
or you have been saving up for this one for quite a while:lol:. At any rate the list looks pretty good:yipi:. It's always nicce to start a new project, and finally to see it all together for the first time. Have fun with it and good luck with the build:intello:.

Ninmaxx 11.21.2007 06:36 PM

Yeah all of this is a Birthday present, but I've been planning this for a long time.

Good choice. In the long run, you save money. Trust me, bend an aluminum one, and you'll see why. If you want the aluminum, that's fine, try'em out...but if you bash pretty good, then get the ti's. They are really nice to have....I have hit trees with mine
I also run the RPM bumper here --> http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXBNM1&P=7

gives for lower protection....and protects the skid a tead more on nose dives. I love this bumper!!!

suicideneil 11.21.2007 07:29 PM

Hang on, birthday present? Who's your Dad, Bill gates?... ;)

You will like the Ti skids alot- the only way to damage them is to crash at 70mph, just ask JohnyMaxxima!...

Ninmaxx 11.21.2007 07:49 PM

With that bend on the end of the skidplate will I be able to use my Traxxas wheelie bar?

Duster_360 11.21.2007 09:43 PM

I don't think the GA rearskid will slide on or into the wheelie bar like you need it to, but short of trying, just guessing and I would be guessing no, prob not.

http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z...id_Compare.jpg

Their older version replicated the stock skid and would have worked - prob would need slight bend to match plastic. Not going to help though.

Ninmaxx 11.21.2007 10:08 PM

Do you just let the car ride on the skidplate when it wheelie's?

suicideneil 11.22.2007 06:56 PM

Most people do if they dont have a wheelie bar- with that Ti skid not only will it hold up perfectly to the abuse, it should also leave a nice trail of sparks behind it....

Ninmaxx 11.23.2007 04:51 AM

Well then that settles it! If I'm going to see sparks, I don't need a wheelie bar!

Ninmaxx 11.23.2007 03:31 PM

Today all of the Traxxas parts came!

JERRY2KONE 11.23.2007 03:48 PM

Keep Us Up To Date.

Uh oh! Frankenstein lives:gasp:. Only you can bring him to life Minmaxx. I would be willing to bet that there will be some little part that you over looked while creating your list. There is always something missing that will just have to be placed on order. Make sure you lay everything out first and look it over real good. That way if anything is missing that it will not run without, you can order it and build while it is in shipment. Good luck Kid.

Ninmaxx 11.24.2007 05:15 AM

Lol I've checked over this list hundreds of times there should not be a thing missing.. Btw the Lunsford hingepins came too.

Ninmaxx 11.24.2007 11:47 PM

Oooooo... The E-maxx screw kit from Hexheads came today and it's nice..

Ninmaxx 12.05.2007 09:11 PM

Ok I have all the parts and I've halfway put it together. I will post pictures soon too.
The FLM Stuff had a few nicks and scratches but w/e..

Ninmaxx 12.13.2007 06:04 PM

Well I'm going to sell the FLM maxx on eBay, I'm not even going to run it.. I'm going to mill my own at my dad's shop, where I can even powder coat it.. I'm make something of better quality than FLM. I'm not trying to put FLM down or anything It's just for the quality I got I could make something better for 25% of the price..

neweuser 12.13.2007 06:10 PM

Good luck......do you have a FLM chassis? Extended? PM if so...

Why did you build it in the first place? :slap:

Ninmaxx 12.16.2007 08:10 PM

I didn't have time to build my own so I bought FLM set, for the money I paid I expected higher quality, but then again if you want something done right, do it yourself..

Just curious what your specific issues with FLM are? I have two of their trucks and aside from one of the tranny screw holes not being drilled deep enough, I have not had any problems. All I had to do was cut off about 1/8" from the length of the screw and presto everything was good to go. There were also a few other areas where some minor grinding/polishing was needed to make the parts fit perfectly, but it wasn't that bad.

My guess is that you may be having similar problems...but trust me in the grand scheme of things its not that bad....stick with it.

Ninmaxx 12.16.2007 10:46 PM

Fitting it together was the biggest problem.. a hole in the bulkhead was not drilled correctly and a screw will not fit, lots of nicks and scratches, and the chassis was very heavy and bulky and seems like total overkill for an rc car..

Why stick with FLM when I have 3 CNC machines, and powder coat booths availible at hand...
I thought I could save some time with FLM and not have to machine my own, but it looks like I will have too!

Well I don't want to be a damper on your creativity...but it is harder than it looks. What kind of cnc machines do you have?

Ninmaxx 12.17.2007 11:11 PM

Lol I don't know it's my dad's business but we have a machinest to do it, he says all's I need to do is draw the part and he'll have it machined. And I'll be able to do it for cheap, and I can powder coat it =)

suicideneil 12.18.2007 04:09 PM

That sounds like an ideal setup/solution. Careful though, before you know it people will be sending you orders for custom chassis too....
