Looking for a used Kyosho Blizzard EP that is

Apart from Ebay, can someone give some hints on where to look for a used Kyosho Blizzard ?

They are just as cheap brand new. I looked around for a while too.

Are these things any good? I like the brake methond to steer it. Wonder if it would hold up to a decent sized outrunner? Would make a killer crawler, if it is light and not top heavy! Keep the gearing low, under 15mph.

I've wanted one for the longest time. We get a lot of winter weather up here in New England, so it would be cool to have something that I could use in the snow.

Here are a couple of brushless vids

I just ordered one the other day. It should be here on tuesday.

The yellow one in the secon vid is hauling butt!

Look here, Ultimate has the nitro version with the engine for 210. Sell the motor and convert it to electric. It must be reasonably well made, it look to be able to take a beating.

Wow can you say torque? The second one with the SS5800 at full revv was like 10 mph. :mdr:

KaztheMinotaur 01.05.2008 09:28 AM

I take it that it doesn't come with a radio for $200?

What gearing options are there? I think I would like mine to go faster than 15! :)

bluonyx 01.05.2008 11:13 AM

I had a MM4600 in mine when I had it and it hauled a$$. Just don't do to many donuts on grass. The tracks kept coming off, too much power.:mdr:

If you get snow in your area I would definitely get it. Fun factor of 10! Wish I didn't sell it on Ebay. Got a good deal on it from my LHS for $110. He just wanted to get rid of the kit, I had a years worth of dust on it.

KaztheMinotaur 01.06.2008 11:50 AM

What kind of batteries were you running it it? Lots of room?

bluonyx 01.06.2008 03:17 PM

I was running a 2S maxamps 6000.

Here is the first shot of my new blizzard, I still need to put sticker & the plastic hardware on the body.

It has the stock motor in it for now, but that won't last long, it needs more speed. I think I'm putting a Mamba Max 4600kv in it.

The paint is Pactra "true blue pearl" rc293

Here is some more video. It is still off my cell phone.

This weekend I will have higher quality, longer video also.

there's one for sale at offroadrc.ca. I am a mod there. pretty cheap. only thing is you need a 10 post count to see the sale section (keeps one post sellers from cluttering things up). it's easy to add 10 meaningful posts nowadays.

Here is some good video.

I love it. Simply amazing how it pulls through deep and loose snow. Can't be with stock motor. Mamba 4600? What batteries are you using? Any snow inside the chasis after such a run through deep snow? How well does it cope with brushless? Any additional wear (diff, plastic spur) so far? Any weak spots which needs reinforcing? I guess the stock diff gears are made of plastic not steel? Any troubles with motor temperature since it seems to be a closed chassis?

I saw one with nitro motor but i remember it beeing way slower than yours.

I should get one myself and replace the stock motor with a mild brushless system.

jimbiss 01.27.2008 01:59 PM

Yep, mamba 4600. Just a couple 6-cell packs, a Duratrax 4200mah & a Racers Edge 3600mah, they do ok.

So far everything is handling the brushless just fine. Diff gears and spiders in diff are metal.

I have only seen motor temps around the 100 degree range, but it is only like 30 degrees or less outside lately here also.

notnodak 01.28.2008 12:39 AM

Are you running it on 12 cells or do you mean you ran through 2 different packs?

jimbiss 01.28.2008 12:48 AM

I am only run 6 cells at a time. 12 cells would be way too much

Do you think a 5700 with 7-cells would work. I'm looking at these but would like it to be super fast like 30 in the snow. Is it possible?

KaztheMinotaur 01.29.2008 10:35 AM

What size pinion gear does it have? Does it have an adjustable motor mount?
