5000mah Neu Lipo Size?
Anyone know the dimensions on the Neu 5000mah 4s and 5s packs that RCM has in the store. I dont see those packs listed on the Neu website so I cant find the actual dimensions of the pacs. I am thinking about the 4s 5000mah pack but I want to be sure it will fit in the battery tray I have.
If anyone knows or can measure Id apreciate it. I'm looking for exact dimensions if possible. http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...eu25c4s5000car http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...c5s5000carpack |

At the bottom of the page they have the 5000's Bye:mdr: *edit*- the link above is to the 30c ones, but neu's website doesn't have any 5000's under the 25c page http://www.neumotors.com/20061222/25...Batteries.html I'm kinda confused.... |

exactly... |
I just ordered a 4s 30c 5000 Neuenergy pack a few days ago, it may take a little while for it to get to me in England over Xmas, but I will measure it and post the size when it turns up.
I'm hopping it will fit my battery tray but the dimensions on the Neu site have it smaller than the Flightpower 20C 4350s that I'm using and I find that a little suspicious. |
I'm interested to hear the actual dimensions, but I'm really looking to find out what the dimensions of the 25c 4s packs listed on the rc-monster store. Neu doesnt even have 25c 5000 packs listed other than their hard shell 2s car packs.

Sorry, I didn't notice you where after 25C, I just saw 5000 and assumed 30C like the Neu site.
|
I just got my Neu LiPo the 4s 5000mah 30C pack measures 45x36x165.

Is your 3s pack 20, 25 or 30C?
also does anyone know how big 8 gauge wire is? I was expecting huge wire but it is not much bigger than I normally use, they are 5mm diameter around the silicone and about 3.2mm diameter of copper, if that's not 8guage can anyone say what gauge it is? |

It's 25C

Thanks for that link Jhautz, it is indeed 8gauge, its just smaller than I was expecting it to be, I must have been using 10gauge for years, thinking it was 14 gauge.

I just went to charge the Neu pack before I use it but it wouldn't wake up my LBA10 balancer, after some poking around with the voltmeter I discovered that while the balance PLUG is hyperion compatible (after a little shaving), its balance lead has a common negative and individual positives, unlike my other packs that have a common positive and individual negatives.
It looks like I will have to strip the heat shrink off the pack and resolder the balance wires onto the opposite tab of the cells before I can use it, I sure hope they have copper tabs so I can solder to them. I'll give it a day or two first tho, in case anyone else can think of a way around it without risking puncturing a cell removing the shrink or cooking a cell soldering, its not something I want to do, but I cant think how else to make em work. I already soldered connectors on and shaved the balance plug before I realised so I can't send em back. |

unfortunately there is only 1 negative wire so I could only swap 1 of the 4 cells around that way.
after thinking on it a while I'm pretty sure I'm gonna have to open it up and swap the leads round on the tabs. :oh: |
Thanks Cartwheels, I took apart an old LiPo to practice on today and found that its not a common positive or negative at all, its just taps from the positive or negative terminals, so I rewired the plug like you suggested and it seems OK, the balancer came on, but only 1 cell flashed at me, hopefully that's just because only 1 cell was out

So how are people liking these packs?
|
A lot. They are very good cells; consider them to be as good as flightpower. they are top-notch cells for a decent price.
|
how do they compare to say a maxamps 6000mah dimension wise?
|
there seem to be two versions; a 30C and a 25C. while one is 150, the other 165 long?
|
dimensions for maxamps 4S 6000mah pack: 44mm x 137mm x42mm
what are the full dimensions on the neu? |
check this thread. Page one gives some dimensions, and check the name of this thread; you are actually asking the same as the topicstarter does.

I like my neu energy packs very much. I'd buy these over flightpower, since they use the same cells and cost much less.
btw, for balancing on the lba10, I use a "jst eh" adapter. I didn't want to bother with re-wiring all of my lipos, so I just got one of those. |
I like mine, they give better performance and runtime but don't hold balance as well as my Flightpowers and I liked those, its an apples and oranges comparison tho, comparing 5ah 30c neu to year old tec 4350mah 20c flightpower, I cant say how well they compare to the current FP 4500 30c.
Are they the same cells? Flightpower, Pollyquest, Hyperion, et all only have 30c cells up to 4500mah and the Neu packs go to 5ah, the rated capacitys are different right down the line. I've run, and balance charged my pack a fair few times now and shaving the lugs off the balance plug and swapping the order of the wires to it worked just fine for a LBA10 no pack disassembly or soldering required. |
I believe they are the same. I was told by the sales person at diversity model that the neu energy lipos use enerland cells as well.
As far as the balance tabs go, I wasn't referring to taking the actual pack apart. My point was, I'd rather spend $4 on the proper balance adapter, than to switch the wires on all my lipos. That's all. Its just a personal preference I guess. I have a lot of lipos from different companies, so it helps to have all the different adapters on hand. That way, balance tabs are never a concern for me when I buy new batteries. |
