Here is the new BL ESC in action!!!

Hi all,

I spoke about this ESC in my other thread and I was finally able to make a video of it in action. The video came out bad and I had to edit some of it off as it was 15 minutes long. I had a problem with my servo getting stuck when I turned to the right. I have the KongPower 2S 5000mAh lipos, Trinity N80 motor and the gearing was set for 3S lipos, so the car is a bit slow. Some folks in another forum keeps saying that when your car rolls backwards and when you try to go forward if it's sensorless it cogs, but this video will prove a lot of people wrong. One guy said that the Tekin R1 does that and I know my MM does it too, but not this controller. Everything was barely warm after 15 minutes and I only put back 2560mAh in the battery. Here is the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_2uIjw_ct08

<object width="425" height="350"> <param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/_2uIjw_ct08"> </param> <embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/_2uIjw_ct08" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="425" height="350"> </embed> </object>

Sorry about the video quality and speaking Portuguese.

Looks like it's doing a perfect job!

BL_RV0 01.09.2008 10:40 AM

wow that's smooth. whats the voltage limit? amp rating? and price????

It can handle 4S lipos (16.8 fully charged). It has a AMP rating of 120 continous and 720A burst. I'm still waiting for price from the manufacturer. I also asked them to send me an extra powerboard to see if GriffinRU (Artur) can doulble that up, but I'm not sure if it's needed. I will find out though when I put it in my truck to test it with 4S and see how it pushes the 1521/1Y.

BL_RV0 01.09.2008 11:46 AM

cant wait to see the price. in your opinion is it smoother than a quark?

The Quark and MGM are smooth and this one is a bit smoother. The plus side on this controller is the brakes. Awesome brakes.

looks really really nice. can't wait for more info!

I have to do some more testing to make sure this controller is the real deal. I still have to run it with 3S lipos. The ultimate test will be 4S lipos on my truck and I won't use the fan at all.

tashpop 01.09.2008 09:15 PM

looks good for sure.
i didn't know you where really in brasil. we have some brasillians come over sometimes at my work. its amazing the things they wanted to shop for because of the import markups. i was shocked when they told me how much levi pants where. they seemed to really like them though.

I'm from Brasil. I came to the US when I was 10. Brasil could be a great country if the import duties were lower. Some companies that I know and myself have stopped shipping to Brasil because of that. For example one of my client bought over $7000 of PC parts from me and customs in Brasil wanted them to pay $8600 of duties.

Ok. Here is what I'm going to try next just to see what is the limits of this controller and too see if I can get the overheat protection to kick in. I don't know what the Kv of the Trinity N80, but I might be able to find out with my SPIN-75 and the program box. I threw in my 11.1v 2200mAh pack which has shown bursts of 128A. I kept the 79T spur gear, but changed the pinion from 23T to 30T, because I couldn't find my 32T one. I did a little calculation and it might reach 75MPH. I also took out the foams and added the rubber tires.

Enter Front/Rear Differential Gear Ratio: 2.5
Enter Transmission Gear Ratio: 1
Enter Additional Gear Ratio: 1
Enter Spur Gear tooth count: 79
Enter Pinion Gear tooth count: 30
Enter total battery voltage: 11.1v
Enter kv rating of brushless motor: 6000 (I took a guess)
Enter tire diameter in inches: 2.5
Enter the added radius of tire "ballooning" in inches: 0
Enter Current draw in amps: 50 (I took a guess, I forgot to bring the DPR)
Enter motor resistance in Ω: 0

Spur/Pinion Reduction Ratio: 2.63:1
Total Reduction Ratio: 6.58333:1
Tire Circumference: 7.85 inches (199.49mm)
Total Motor Speed: 66600 RPM
Final Vehicle Speed: 75.24 MPH (120.86km/h)
Effective speed rate: 6.78mph/V (10.89kmh/V)
Calculated Loaded KV value: 6000 (I took a guess)
Calculated motor torque: 0.06 ft-lbs
Calculated final torque: 0.39 ft-lbs

Here are the kv numbers for the N-series trinity's:

N40 6500kv

N60 9000kv

N80 7800kv

I got these numbers in email from Trinity a while back.

Wow. Let me calculate again LOL. I will still use the 30T pinion and hope the motor will handle spinning that high. On 2S lipo it might do 65MPH and on 3S it is up to 97MPH. Thanks for the Kv.

snellemin 01.10.2008 06:44 PM

It should be no problem if you use the 3s.

Check this matrix out...-> save as

Nice program there.

snellemin 01.10.2008 07:14 PM

Thanks.

That's my latest one for that forum. As you go faster, the misc resistance % should be increased, due to tire slippage and drag.

lutach 01.11.2008 02:41 PM

I might run 2S instead of 3S just to see how the ESC and motor will handle the gearring.

lutach 01.11.2008 03:18 PM

Look folks, Shawn Palmer is worried . http://www.rctech.net/forum/showthre...=1#post4063416

What a joke. What is he trying to say "Schumacher policy". Who does he think he is? Look at the price of the Speed Passion GT controller $199, I guess he as a lot to be worried. If Schumacher's policy was so good, then look at his buddy in this thread: http://www.rctech.net/forum/showthre...08#post4063408

Serum 01.11.2008 03:31 PM

LOL, that actually IS funny.

that esc they are selling for 199, for how much can you get it Lutach?

The problem is that I have contact with the factory and I'm waiting on them. I spoke with them yesturday and have some good info on other controllers. Speed Passion is a distributor with branded products. Just like their Feigao motors. Funny is that another company sells it cheaper and if you go to the link again you will see that didn't take long LOL.

snellemin 01.11.2008 03:53 PM

hahaa, that's funny. Seems to be like close to a 150$$ markup if the ESC is 199.

Serum 01.11.2008 03:55 PM

great work..

lutach 01.11.2008 03:57 PM

Now he is explaining himself.

Serum 01.11.2008 04:00 PM

yeah, i just read it.

Using ' ignorant' LOL

lutach 01.14.2008 01:22 AM

Here is a video of some speed passes with the new ESC:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZaquBD-lr6E

<object width="425" height="350"> <param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/ZaquBD-lr6E"> </param> <embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/ZaquBD-lr6E" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="425" height="350"> </embed> </object>

It only went 50MPH. Good this is that the ESC didn't break a sweet.

Countryhick 01.14.2008 02:10 AM

What was your setup for that run?

lutach 01.14.2008 02:16 AM

The pinion in the car now is 30T. The spur is 79T. I will try 3S, mainly because the ESC didn't get even warm.

lutach 01.14.2008 11:39 PM

Here is another funny one from the guy who used to do good stuff out of Castle. Now he is making things up as he goes. Check this out: http://forums.radiocontrolzone.com/s...=1#post2305688

johnrobholmes 01.15.2008 12:14 AM

"only" 50mph. Ha! What kind of radar is that?

Its a Bushnell. It keeps the kids busy . BTW did you see that link I posted. Man what a joke the guy is now saying his speed control does 180A and 720A burst and he still needs to test the limits on how many lipos it can handle. Speed Passion clearly says 600A burst on their website. That guy is just cheating people of their hard earned money. I'm having fun busting his (you know what).

lutach 01.31.2008 07:05 PM

Look at this link folks: http://www.radiocontrolzone.com/showthread.php?t=244134

What will Shawn say now.
