Got $200 to spend

So I'm thinking Gmaxx CF chassis, Aluminum Chassis, or a Speed Control. What do you guys think?

MetalMan 07.31.2005 04:11 PM

What do you have already?

tomato 07.31.2005 04:18 PM

Good Diffs, CVD's, Stock chassis, HV maxx , Big Bore shocks, misc shiney metal pieces(that weren't needed) Bigest hold I think is the chassis and motor.

MetalMan 07.31.2005 04:49 PM

How do you like the HV-Maxx system? Did you put a controller as one of the options because you don't like it?

If you like the HV-Maxx system, then go for the chassis. I would say go for the aluminum one as it look better with your truck, and it costs less.

tomato 07.31.2005 07:53 PM

The HV maxx will be replaced eventually. I was thinking the chassis also. I'm just not sure Metal or Carbon fiber. It's only a $10 dollar difference.

coolhandcountry 07.31.2005 07:57 PM

I guess it depends if you want light weight or some bling. I would get one of the chassis though. IMO

Sneeck 08.01.2005 02:44 AM

Carbon is just as blingish' imo. But it doesn't look very strong, remind's me of serum's picture.(broken screw hole front bulkhead)

coolhandcountry 08.01.2005 08:27 AM

I like the colored chassis. If i was going to buy me one.I like the way they look and they come with the extension.

tomato 08.01.2005 08:34 AM

I need something strong otherwise I might as well keep the original tupperware one. :)

The colored ones are just as strong as the regular gmaxx chassis. I don't know if mike could get this or not. They have the blue aluminum, red aluminum, and a sliver carbon. You have to go to the gmaxx site and check them out. www.gorillamaxx.com
It is under the limited editions.

tomato 08.01.2005 10:01 AM

It is sweet looking. Could you get um Mike?

OK... I was of by $40 :)

coolhandcountry 08.02.2005 06:42 PM

What you going to get tomato?

tomato 08.03.2005 08:00 AM

I ordered the blue chassis one last night. :)

coolhandcountry 08.03.2005 03:23 PM

You must have liked it then. I liked it to. It probably looks better in person than in pic. Have to post a pic of it when you get it togethere there tomato.

rchippie 08.03.2005 06:33 PM

You should also get associated chassis protection tape for the bottom of your chassis it will keep your chassis from getting scratched it cost about $10.00. I use it on both of my cf trucks it works great.

coolhandcountry 08.03.2005 06:38 PM

Where you get that tape from hippie?

rchippie 08.03.2005 06:45 PM

I bought mine from the lhs, but check with mike i'm pretty sure he can get it he might even have some just not listed on the store site.

coolhandcountry 08.03.2005 06:52 PM

I don't know where my lhs is. Even if I have one. I don't think it is quite so local. I get a lot of my stuff online.

rchippie 08.03.2005 07:32 PM

Ask mike i'm pretty sure he can get it for you.

I have three that are fairly close. Unfortunetly they're good for spurs(somtimes) and pinions(sometimes). They don't stock much aftermarket QUALITY items. I was there today to buy some new diffs case's and housings for my T. They had the Robinson gears but that was it. I bought the stock plastic again. I dismanteled my truck rebuilt the diffs, reassembled, and went outside. I must have made it twenty feet before that plastic cup gave up the ghost leaving me with front wheel drive (again). I blew reverse donuts till I was outta gas. Dug a nice pit I have to admit, but I'm out a couple dollars and a chunk of time. I have to do it again.

Mike do you have diff houseings<--(spelling) in stock?

coolhandcountry 08.03.2005 08:21 PM

What do you keep breaking there tomato?

rchippie 08.03.2005 08:38 PM

Tomato were in florida do you live ?. I live in largo fl which is near tampa.,

tomato 08.03.2005 08:43 PM

Diffs keep distorting or stripping. I'm on my 3 set(6 pcs) in my E and T maxx. I did get some maxximizer cups with the Robison gears from Mike. I was going to put them in some houses I got off ebay but the houses ended up to be a defect from the manufacturer. So I got rid of them :( They were only $55 for both so... atleast I'm not a $100 or more.

Busted the plastic drive shafts. ( I guess we all knew that was comming). So I just got some cvd's. Busted numerous screws in my alum bulk head... Toast now I guess. I have a set of these
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWN%3AIT&rd=1
comming in soon. A new set of bulks from integy(blue) to go with that blue CF chassis. Full Integey suspention kit (silver) to go on the new chassis. Now I'm debating on a new set of houses to go with the maxximizer cups. Maybe I'll put them in the other diffs from ebay?. I don't know.....

coolhandcountry 08.03.2005 09:17 PM

I had a little bit of problem with the diff gears. Never had to much until the 7xl. I ran the aluminum diff cup with the fastlane bulkless. I have a pole head on at 20 mph or so and didn't hurt nothing. Did you shim the side spider gears. It makes them stronger. I going to step up to the 7.5 rears. I am tired of having problems with the stock setup. I want to put another big motor on truck to. I like power. :)

RC-Monster Mike 08.03.2005 10:59 PM

If it is available, I can most likely get it. I have blue diff cases in stock, as the silver cases have been back ordered for a bit, along with spider gears if you need them.

tomato 08.03.2005 11:11 PM

would you email me some info on the blue diff cases.

Mike the chassis tape is made be associated.

RC-Monster Mike 08.03.2005 11:27 PM

Yes, I am familiar with the chassis tape. The cheaper solution is to buy clear sticker paper at an office supply store. :)

rchippie 08.03.2005 11:30 PM

How thick is it i have never heard of that stuff ?. Is it tough ?.

RC-Monster Mike 08.03.2005 11:32 PM

@ Tomato: YGM! :)

RC-Monster Mike 08.03.2005 11:37 PM

The stuff I have is in a box called "clear full sheet labels". It sin't as thick as the associated stickers stuff, but you get 25 sheets in a package and it works great for making custom stickers as well!

tomato 08.04.2005 01:47 PM

I sent my order in today Mike. You should have it.

RC-Monster Mike 08.04.2005 05:53 PM

Yep. Order received. I will ship it tomorrow so you should have it soon!

tomato 08.04.2005 06:06 PM

Thank you! :)

coolhandcountry 08.04.2005 06:29 PM

That is what i like about you mike. You are on the ball.

tomato 08.05.2005 01:47 PM

Got the chassis in today. A few more parts and I'll have some pictures up. Still need the cases and center cvd. The cases are on the way. I'm gonna feel bad bashing up that chassis. NOT! Although it is the strangest CF I've ever seen :)

RC-Monster Mike 08.05.2005 05:33 PM

The "strangest CF I've ever seen" is actually blue annodized aluminum (which is why it appears to be strange for CF!). :)

tomato 08.05.2005 06:32 PM

That's what I thought when I was taping it against my teeth. :) I just didn't want to assume. I have the chassis together and the front and rear arms bolted to the bulks. Lunsford TI pins and turnbuckles. Racers edege diff cases, maxximizer cups... It's starting to come together. I'll have to make 2 pots of coffee tonite and get it done!

coolhandcountry 08.05.2005 06:48 PM

It is so hard to stop once you get started. I like to see when done.
