Lot's more news to come over the next few weeks, so thanks for your patience.

There ya go. A real date (well, month at least) and I believe this one. Start saving your pennies kids, it's gonna be a wild summer!

At Least.

Well at least they do attempt to keep the general RC public somewhat informed of the goings on with their products. Try and ask questions of any kind for information of current stocks or future plans of suppliers like UE. all you get is mind your own business or no answer at all.:gasp: At least CC has some idea of what customer service is about.

wallot 01.29.2008 10:36 AM

Who needs MMM when there is MGM :)
CC keeps general public informed about MMM for year and a half? Thats like Tekin and their Monster ESC.
Do what traxxas does -> be quiet untill the product is really ready to ship.

Yeah, it probably will be wild. People have been waiting so long with so much hype and anticipation, that those ESCs will fly off the shelves - at least at first. Will probably be like a tickle-me-Elmo type of craze.

sleebus.jones 01.29.2008 10:45 AM

Well, since most of us folk live in the US, dealing with Castle is far easier than dealing with MGM.

Besides, even tho the MGM are nice controllers, I don't think the MMM will have the funky reverse issues that the MGMs do. I know it's not a big deal, but that plus a lower price make the deal for me.

lincpimp 01.29.2008 11:21 AM

I have actually been put off MGM due to the many issues people have with them. They appear to be difficult to program, and the weird brake to reverse issue makes me wonder. I will buy a MMM and give it a try. I have been happy with CC other products.

JERRY2KONE 01.29.2008 11:32 AM

Pressure.

Even though it has taken some time to get this product out to us you can bet that there will still be some issues to deal with:eyes:. I am shocked that they are not using the BETA guys to start testing these controllers before putting them on the shelves for us to spend our hard earned money on. I hope like most of us that it is a great product, but how often does that happen right out of the gate? It will more than likely be a great unit, but it will still have some growing pains to go through. That is just the nature of the business.

BrianG 01.29.2008 11:51 AM

Which is why I'm gonna hold off until everyone else discovers the bugs and issues...

Not sure exactly what you are basing this on? If it's because you haven't heard of any beta happening doesn't mean it hasn't happened.

Remember the rules of NDA testing: Those who actually do it, can't talk about it. Those who talk about it, generally don't do it. :mdr:

wallot 01.29.2008 11:55 AM

Sure for you guys in US CC is easier to deal with. For me MGM is as easy as it can be :)
Programming MGM with card/usb-com is very easy and card can be taken to field (who wants to drag his laptop when racing)
Also after 2 quarks died I had no other choice and since going to MGM i am very happy with my ESCs.

CC pc interface enables lots of setting which is nice but it is still just a pc interface :) - thats why I got rid of mamba25 for my small truck and got mgm as I can share the programming card.

Anyway I just hate seeing "coming soon" for more than few weeks

We'll see when it comes out and people will get some experience with it.

quick off topic question with mgm controller do they still have problems if you only use mechanical brakes and eliminate reverse? broke (internal physical damage) another quark and need new esc.

It's true, there won't be any beta testing for the MMM. There wasn't any for the Sidewinder or CCBEC, either.

my friend uses mechanical brake in his LSP with MGM 12018-3 and no problems. you cannot completely turn brake off but with proper Radio setup ESC wont do anything if you push brake

Ok!

Finnster 01.29.2008 02:58 PM

I use mech brake on my MGM 9032 and it works well. Its a great controller, but they really need to do some more work on the software to get the brake/rev tweaked. Last time I talked to them they were working on some new firmware, but cars are only a small part of their business, so it doesn't get as much attention. One thing also is they are really well built controllers. My MM seems cheap in comparison, OTOH it is :)

It would be nice to see how the MMM does. I'm all settled on my setup, but it will be great to see a real 1/8th scale package hit the market. Hopefully it will end all that silly Vtwin crap. Hopefully factory 1/8th scale electrics follow soon.

johnrobholmes 01.29.2008 03:37 PM

I doubt there will be any bugs in the MMM. The software and control board is the same for the MM, sidewinder, and MMM. The Sidewinder and MM works with the new firmware, so the MMM will too.

MTBikerTim 01.29.2008 06:09 PM

I can't wait. This is going to be awesome. I am going to start saving my pennies for sure.

My MGMs (both of them) don't have any reverse issues??????? I have heard about them...but mine don't have them. Course I probably just jinxed myself.

  :sleep:I thought January was THE date.   I have expressed my feelings about companies that don't do what they say they are going to do...It is sad that all the American companies that are in this ESC industry can't live up to the competition overseas. I will resist the urge to jump up on my soapbox.

Takedown 01.29.2008 06:42 PM

Finally! Ive been waiting to hear this for awhile.

pipeous 01.29.2008 07:16 PM

there have been pics of the mmm testing leaking out here and there. if they weren't working out bugs, why would the release date change?

Dagger Thrasher 01.29.2008 07:30 PM

Finally!

Though they said the same back in November...that it'd be out in January. Oh well...hopefully this is for real now. The last thing Patrick said was that they were just waiting for the plastics (the casing) to be done, which is done by an outside source I think. Maybe they had a delay there. But there's not much reason as to why there'd be any bugs IMO; like has been said, the software is finished and ready to go and Castle know how to build a good powerboard. :)

BrianG 01.29.2008 07:31 PM

Just wrap the sucker in shrinkwrap like the other 90% of ESCs out there!

suicideneil 01.29.2008 07:47 PM

True. Since the MMM will have a fan built into the case, does this mean you will have a good excuse to rip it apart, ditch the fan, and shrinkwrap it anyway Brian!?

Sower 01.29.2008 08:08 PM

What the heck, I guess I'll throw my $.02 in the barrell too. I'm stoked about this. I'm pretty confident the MMM won't have issues out of the box if used within it's specs up to 6s. I'm also stoked on it over the MGM because it will have reliable reverse, brakes, programming flexibility, and it has a better built in BEC. The MGM only went up to 5v and I wasn't happy with that. A steering servo on 6v is a beautiful thing. :intello:

Oh, and I won't be able to race anything until March here in Idaho anyway. Too wet or cold.

Ditch the fan: definitely! Don't know if everyone has caught on, but I hate to use fans.

MTBikerTim 01.29.2008 08:41 PM

I've just seen the helicopter I want is now available locally. Heli or MMM, Heli or MMM.....

... Ahh the misses isn't going to approve the purchase of either but I could probably sneek the MMM past her .

gixxer 01.29.2008 09:38 PM

nice to see that they finally gave an update. a little irritating that they only seem to do it after enough people get frustrated with them.

jhautz 01.29.2008 10:00 PM

Every time the previous due date gets here they give a new one. That last for sure cant miss delivery date they gave was January. This is what they told people at the iHobby show on Oct. Now its January and the new date is March. Who wants to bet that March comes and they tell us May.

Sammus 01.29.2008 10:03 PM

I'll bet you a MMM :mdr:

jhautz 01.29.2008 10:06 PM

:lol:It was used as a figure of speech. Not meant to be a real bet. But come March you will probably be glad I didn't take you up on that.

Sammus 01.29.2008 10:07 PM

I don't even know what side I was betting for

bahaha I'm still laughing, out loud too!

if not fans, are all you doing then is adding caps to cool things down? I have been following the rctech forum on the brushless 8th scale conversions, that's how I found this place.... 2 conversions later....

I am just about to mount the esc and I am trying to decide how I would fit a 2 fan setup in this one. ya I know search, and I am reading... so much info here I get sidetracked. 2 days I have been on the site snowbound at home. I am a long time nitro racer and after a nightmare year with engines last year, decided to get into this brushless stuff. I did run helis but other than play with cels, most combos I got worked without worry.

I have a neu 2.5d and running a 4s setup. going to do the cap setup (I read multi caps is better than a single large one, parallel I assume... just need to decide what to use), mamba max, castle bec, 5k 20c lipos.

any advice or links on this stuff would be an awesome help. this site rocks. I am so addicted now, and I love Castle stuff.

You'll get caught.... And since your going to get in trouble.... make it worth it and get both :)

I was hopefull that Castle would come out with a HV MMM Those HV car stuff is always big $$$$ ... I would like to see a price affordable option, something that can handle 9s A123.
