New revo build soon
Hi all, new here . Seems like the best board when it comes to the e-revo !! I'm currently waiting on a revo i purchased from ebay , should be here by thursday or friday. Been reading ALOT on here about what to do . So far i figure i want to stick with the revo trans, locked into second . It already has the FOC kit installed.
I will be using a Mamba max with a XL9 motor. I'm thinking of trying to do a custom chassie , make my own motor mount , and using twin lipos. I'll have to see when it gets here . We have all the tools at work to bend and shear aluminum , and drill press's,lathes, etc... no milling machines though ! i like how the emax tranny mounts and you can use two batteries but I want to try something simular with the revo tranny, will see. i also ran across this tranny https://www.ssl-stormerhobbies.com/c...=ns&pn=AX30487 possible ? or is the ratio all wrong ? they do make another motor mount for brushless . Anyhow, I cant wait to get the truck and start tearing it apart. I will have all the nitro leftovers if anyones interested . Dont have it yet, so that will be a few days. Anyhow, looking forward to being part of the great forum !! Jerry |
well my revo got here yesterday . Ran it once then starting ripping it apart !!!
Started to make a chassis at work today . It's just a mockup to see how things might or might not fit . I'll post pics when I get a chance. Got some leftovers on ebay if anyones interested . Maybe willing to trade some of it for a mamba max !! Let me know if someones interested in anything . Jerry http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZjbr...QQfsooZ2QQrdZ0 |

Nice! Good start so far. I'd be keeping my eye on this thread. Looking forward to the progress. That transmission you linked to is also from a rock crawler, so it won't work. I'd suggest the new E-Maxx tranny or stock Revo tranny. Both need no upgrading....
|
I will be using the stock revo tranny . That was my plan all along, I just saw the other one and was curious.
More pics will follow !! |
nice chassis dude this thread has another subscription!

How thick is that chassis?
|
you should have made the side trays much more lower like the New emaxx 3905 chassis style.
|
The chassis is the same thickness as the original . When bending the aluminum it's almost impossible to get a 90 degree bend without cracking thats why it's not lower . I'm not real happy with the overall design yet . I may make another on monday . I think I may try a different approach kinda along the lines of the gorillamaxx chassis. Sorta like a double decker . That way I can lower the battery tray down a bit. Will see, I'll keep you updated. Heres the latest pic.

very nice, i like the new type of chassis design it is like a basher mixed with a racer chassis which is a perfect combo.
|
Nice work Ddawg! Custom is always cooler in my book. Anyone can bolt something on and end up with a r/c that is 1 of 1000 instead of a r/c that is truly one of kind.

Well, to save you some work, you can just mount the batt's on the bottom of the chassis and velcro them upside down.
Nice work! |
Thanks for the kind words !!! I actually ran across a gorillamaxx G2R chassis on ebay and bought it !! I'm not done with my own chassis though, I'm planning on a double deck chassis to lower the batts like the gorillamaxx does but dont worry , I dont just copy . I love having something unique ! The gorillamaxx will just get me rolling faster while I work on my own. I love the build as much as the running !!

how much did you get the revo 3.3 for?
|
There are always a few for around 250 to 300 on ebay. I paid 300 for mine cause it had a few hopups already and a nice engine I could resell . Jerry
