Muggy Suggestions

While I Just Finished My 8ight-b On Thursday And Ordered A Muggy I Will Be In Tomorrow. So I Need Some Motor, Gearing And Battery Suggestions.

At First I Was Thinking A Kb45 8xl But Now Im Thinking A 1521 1.5d Or 1y On 6s And 14-16 Tooth Pinion.

I Want Crazy Speed And Wheel Yanking Torque. I Want This Thing To Be Sick Its Goin To Be A Basher Mainly On The Street.'

So Give Me Some Input!!!

Well, I can say one thing, and that's invest in a stronger chassis. Either the losi hard anodized or the rc innovations, I recommend the latter.

As for the set-up, I think your looking towards more of a neu setup trying to make a 12 lb truck wheelie and do speed runs at the same time.

no comments im starting to think this isnt a good conversion LOL jk

I think you've got the right idea with your initial post. A 1521 1Y on 6s would be sick! Just make sure you give us a video of the beast when you're done!

def will make a video. I'm getting a 1521 and 6s battery this thing should be really sick also I was think about running my hydra esc and a mech brake way do u guys think I really dont want to buy another mgm cause I plan on stocking up on mmm wen they come out

The general consensus on RumRunnerRacing, a fast electric boat forum is that the hydra line like the barracuda and phoenix lines are only really 5s capable not the 6s in the specs. It seems to be like the Quark over here, some get away with it and some burn up.

Hope the MMM is not the same.

I ran my Barracuda 125 on 7s2p A123 cells with no problems. Like you say, I guess some handle the higher voltage better than others.

If you've already got the Hydra, you might as well try it to see if it will handle 6s.

t-maxxracer32 02.24.2008 02:06 PM

if you put this in the brushless area im sure it would have gotten more hits.

satttheman 02.24.2008 03:26 PM

yea i already fried one hydra240 on 6s in like 5mins but im goin to try again with the new one cc sent me and see wat happens

yea i prolly should have started this in the brushless forum

I too am considering a Muggy conversion,is there a problem with the stock chassis?

satttheman 02.24.2008 03:54 PM

from wat i hear the stock chassis flexes so u need a stiffer aftermarket one like the rc innovative

satttheman 02.24.2008 08:52 PM

do u guys think a 16018 would be able to handle 6s in a truggy i have a extra one but i dont want to blow it up

cart213 02.24.2008 08:55 PM

It should be plenty for the Muggy, but if you don't want to risk the MGM, you can send it to me.

satttheman 02.25.2008 04:44 AM

nah i've been have bad luck running stuff at its max

bdebde 02.25.2008 11:54 AM

I got the 16024 to run on 6s, just so I wasn't running at max voltage of ESC.
