Torsen diff for hyper 7 Vs. Hot bodies Lightning diff
 
I am thinking about upgrading the differentials of my E-Revo with a Neu 1515 1.5y/s. So I been doing some reading over the Internet. While I was lookin at stuff, I found two candidates for my E-revo. One is Torsen diff for hyper-7 and the other is Hot bodies Lightening diffs. Which one should I get? Of course I know that I need to get diff cups, pinion gears and bearings with them. I have a budget a little over $200. Please, help me with it, guys.

My understanding is that the torsen diffs won't hold up to brushless power...never tried it so I can't say from experience.

I personally like the Ofna Hyper 8.5 or Jammin CRT Diffs (the 8.5 diffs have a really good seal-my experience). Another reason I like Ofna is because its always easy to buy diffs on ebay dirt cheap. The Lightning diffs are good too...I have them in one of my trucks-no problems.

Mike sells a kit for $125...but you need two kits per truck, which equals $250.

If you don't have the Mike FLM diff case, you can't put any other diffs than stock in the revo.
You absolutly need the RCM hybrid diff case, and you can buy the "case only" option, and put the diff you want in it.
Personaly, i love the Kyosho diffs, that's bulletproof.

If you are planning on using a torsen diff; you need at least a center and a front one. Only a center torsen won't help much or gets too much load. The thing is that if one front wheel is lifted, in a corner, all the energy goes to that wheel, causing a rather high difference in rpm of both outputs of the diff.

I would consider getting the xray diffs instead. They will increase their torsen effect with more power applied.

A torsion dif does act differently than a normal dif. it transfers power to the axle with traction. a normal center would allow a front dif to unload if a front wheel lifts where a torsion would sense the lift and transfer the power to the rear instead (torsen is torque sensing). you have to use special dif fluids for torsen difs too, kind of like automatic tranny fluid.

They change the way power gets laid down for sure. some like it, some don't. if I could afford to put torsens all the way through I would myself, as I like the feel they give though it can become twitchy feeling since all the power goes to a wheel with traction

That's what they SHOULD do, yeah. but since a torsendiff can't compensate unlimited torque difference something has got to give; that's why you need to use one in the center and one in the front, in order to keep the center torsen diff in tact or to have full benefit from it.

the inertia of the vehicle plays a large part here.

I agree there with you on center and front. It is an expensive option to try. some don't like the way a torsen feels
