Doubt's on gmaxx chassis

Well as some of you know I build a custom emaxx chassis which is a little to heavy. It's the 3rd chassis i've bought and still i'm not happy with it. So now i'm thinking gmaxx as it's light and strong.

And there is where my doubt's are. I can get the carbon gmaxx from a friend, but I want to know if it is strong enough for a full alloy truck. I don't plan on jumping any houses or stuff like that, just want a rigid platform that can stand up to normal race-type abuse. Specially the servo plate got me worried as I got a hitec 5955tg servo which put's out 333 oz. The edges doesn't seem very strong, or is that just me?

I'd have to agree with you on the servo plate. I watch mine flex all the time. It hasn't broken though.

Sneek i have the CF gmaxx, i use a airtronics 94358 (200oz). The top plate use to flex but then i found that the steering linkage was hitting the front drive shaft. I fixed the problem and there is no more flex. If you have to you can always double up the front plate.

So apart from the steering plate it will be strong enough to take some abuse?

Yes, it is very, very strong.. don't let the thickness and width fool you!

You could always use some 5X5mm aluminum over the topplate to make it more rigid.. (not needed imo, it is very tough allready, but i'm affraid i'm wont be able to stop you... ;) ((GRIN))

You might as well drop 4 shocks Sicco!

Sneeck 08.20.2005 03:19 PM

No I really like the look of 8 shock's, else you got an emty space. And guess who got my stiff spring set?:p

I don't even have to try to get something damaged, but if it give's i'll make a thicker one out of carbon ofcourse.

You could order an extra one and place two on eachother? (or get that plate from aluminum, gmaxx sells them sepperate.)

Yeah, i forgot about those springs... If you ever need them? i've got 8 black and 8 blue ones at this moment..

Sneeck 08.20.2005 03:49 PM

Nah for now i'll stick w/ 8 shock's. Look's way better imo.

But I do have to order the gmaxx extension kit if i'm going for the gmaxx. Hard to decide to drop more money in an allready to expensive truck.. I'll stick to my custom chassis for now, can't really justify spending money again on this thing. But who know's in the future...

Justify?? Ooh, you're married too :L:

I think the G chassis has a nice price, and the plates and braces are available separately. I never had one, but will get my first Gorilla chassis soon. Only heard good things about it, and was told it's surprisingly light and rigid.

Nevertheless, I won't show Her the bill ;)

It truely is very light... I too was impressed with her weight..

I don't quite understand the justify part.. just move that comma one or two digits to the left, and you'll survive...
