pointers
ok Ima be changing my stock plugs into deans ultras on my HV-Maxx, my charger and my batts
can you guys give any pointers?? my tools are a K&S Soldering Iron 60watt im using deans solder with proflux oh and im gonna change the wires on my batts since they got ruined |
yeah, make sure to solder this wire first, on that side too, (+) hold the plug with pliers or something, because it gets really hot when soldering..
http://www.serum.demon.nl/deans.jpg put a bit of tin on the plugs, and tin the wires as well. then heat the wires again, press them against the plug, and put a little bit of tin against it, so it all melts together.. That does the trick.. Make sure the heatshrink is away from the plug when soldering, otherwise it will shrink on a point you dont want it.. ;) |
It's actually very easy and straight forward.
I always pre-tin both, plug and wire. This Link might also help: http://www.misbehavin-rc.com/pit-lan...eans-plugs.asp |
I always tin the wire and put a bit of solder on the gold tab first. Then hold the plug in a pair on pliers (or a vice if you've got one). Then hold the wire to the gold tab and place the tip of the soldering iron on the other side of the gold tab - so that your not touching the wire with the iron. After about 3-5 seconds the solder will melt, remove the iron and hold the wire still on the gold tab for about 15 seconds.
Most importantly: don't forget to put the heatsink on the wire first! |

But I suspect you meant heatSHRINK in that last sentence, right? |
No, you need to cool the wires!!!! very important.. they might change polarity if you don't keep them cool!!!
Donīt tell me you never heard it before Dafni? (one way to disguise a fault.. Simple don't admit it..) |
Hey, maybe that's why all those Schulze ESCs burn up?!?!
|
:D:D:D
Well.. that is one of the 1001 mysteries solved... I think, under the influence of a wine or two Daniel, we could manage to come to 500+ solved.... perhaps we could even clear the Bermuda triangle.. Come to think of it.. Wasn't it a large methane gas cloud? i've got a bermuda triangle cooking at this moment.. :D |
:D :D :D right back at you! You have a good point, Rene. Cheers.
Yeah, if we could share a glass of wine, we would spare our friends here with our off-topic chattering. I hope they don't mind. While we're at it: You have a methane cloud cooking?? I see a very clear picture, but I hope I'm wrong  Is it just me, or is the b-triangle kinda out of fashion? Nowadays I like to grow crop-circles. |
Just a tip if you cut the stock plugs off it will most likely void your warrenty. So you might want to wait untill your warrenty expiers. Just a thought.

wut do you guys think?? http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b3...ltradEmaxx.jpg |
Looks good shadow. Hey serum. How do the wires change polarity if they're too hot? By traveling down to the esc? Or, Are you just kidding the kid? If you are serious, thats a new one on me
