what motor and batts will you be using?

i've been thinking about picking up those rear arms, but idk if they work with 3.3 sliders.

Duster_360 03.08.2008 11:43 AM

I've read on other forums, the new RPM rear setup needs clearancing to work with the 3.3 cvds.

i'll be using eather a 8 or 9xl motor with 12 MnHi cells.

and if the arems do need some more clearence, i'll work something out.

I noticed you have some older style center shafts there- they wont hold up to BL power very long.... you might be better served with some modified 3905 centershafts.....

i had the 8xl in mine and it ran great with 4 cell lipo, lots of power

wallot 03.08.2008 05:43 PM

why so many spurs? I still use the first strobe spur I put in my maxx exactly year ago :)

CVDs with RPm arms arent the best idea, I went to sliders after bending like 4 MIP CVDs

the reason i have so many spurs is that i traded a few things to squeeforever for the clutch and spurs and he didn't want to just let the clutch go without all the spurs he had.

and the reason i havn't opened the CVD's yet is becouse i'm still not sure if i'll sell them and get 3.3 shafts or if i'll keep them.

Update: I've got the motor and everything. i sold the cvd's for $50 on ebay and i'm going to pick up the 3.3 slidders and some screws at my lhs tomarow. i've installed the rpm stuff and the steel idler into the tranny. i made my own way of keeping the tranny in 2nd gear as well. check it out:
i used the bearrings to hold the spacing after funding out that 2 on the idler shaft and 3 on the outdrive shaft would work well.

so, i will be running a 9XL motor with 12 NmHi cells and the rcm heatsink(i've got a mod 1 pinion as well).

Thats one way of doing it, and should hold up just fine. Usings the bearings on the output shaft is good too- I wouod have done that back in the day, but I didnt have enough spare bearings, so I left the 1st output gear in place, and it just free-wheeled within the tranny.

Update: sold CVD's for $50 and bought 5 sliders for about $30-35 (shortend one to make it fit as a center shaft). I also bought a pritty new 9XL motor with black rc-monster heat sink. But wile i was running my rustler i had the MM ESC to give out so i had to ship it to CC (thay just shipped it back to me on the 7th so it mite be here tomarow). now all i've got to do is order one of these!
BTW: does anyone know about what sized pinion to start with wile running a 66, 68, or 70T spur?

yea. i even thought of cutting and drilling some of the old 2.5 shafts to keep the spacing. but i had 1 extra bearring:yes:\

I did a home grown tranny conversion similar to that busted idlers like peanut brittle (pre steel idler) I got the gorilla conversion and fixed everything (stock idlers held up good with gorilla) I think it flexes too much without the support of the gorilla conversion

we will see how well it holds up. and my idler is a hardended steel idler witch i highly dought will break.

update: got my MM ESC back! Thay replaced the processor and added the new black stickers and new software. but now my MM motor in my rustler isn't working right and i've got to send the MM motor and ESC back to CC again so thay can repair it!
