striping spur gears.
 

hey guys with my emaxx i keep striping the spur gears on it. like i dont even drive it for that long. maybe like 2 mins and it goes. i konw my gear mesh is right and its not that im jumping it. its just driving it on the street. i thought it was the sliper so i changed it all out with a new one and it was not that tight and it was sliping alot and sow when i went to tighten it the 2 medal things on the out side of the spur wear trought the spur and cause it to brake in the center. i have friction pegs in all the holes.

if any of u had this problem what did u do to fix it.

or what can i do to fix it.

sounds like your slipper is set too loose and its slipping to much. the excess slip creates heat and that heat softens the spur gear and the spur gear gets trashed.

Just to be clear... your not tripping the teeth off of the gear. You are melting the center out of the gear where the slipper plates meet the gear.

If thats the case you just need to tighten it more. The stock slipper from the old emaxxes was not really adequate for the power of brushless systems and thats whey Strobe slippers were so popular. Now the newer Revo and new emaxx slippers are much beeter suited to handle the power.

I say just get a new gear and tighten it down more this time and it should keep it from melting. The long term solution is to get a slipper clutch that can handle the power.

I use an EMAX transmission on my evo with the Robinson Racing Slipper - This worked well for me once I swapped to the MGT spring to eliminate wobble.

I've had no issues and hit it pretty hard with standing backflips etc

When I got the used Emaxx I bought up and running, the slipper was no problem. I upgraded to S600 motors and began toasting slippers in about 8min run time. I was melting the center out of the spur. I was running all 12 pegs and rinnung it fully tight, no back off - was still melting them. Just too much for that stock slipper design.

I run RRP slipper set fully tight - no back off at all and a RRP metal spur. No more problems, even for two or three runs back to back (30min+ run time) as quickly as I can change batts out.
