Need help deciding on a good brushless system!

Hey guys I am trying to decide what brushless system to upgrade my MM/8XL on my Revo with. The Feigao 8XL gets hot and just doesn't seem to run smooth enough for me. I was thinking that I could sell the motor and get a Neu 1515/1Y using my current 4s 8000 maH lipo's. If I did this then I would just keep my MM.

My other option was to go much higher voltage and use 8s 4000maH lipos with a Neu 1515/2Y and a Jazz 55-10-32 esc.

I know the 8s setup would be the most efficient and probably run smoother than the MM with the 1515/1Y but the price is what is holding me back from going the 8s route. Does the 1515/1y run smoother than the Feigao 8XL with the MM esc?

Any other suggestions are welcome! Thanks

So you have the latest firmware (1.17) loaded on your MM? If not, that upgrade will smooth it out. Is your motor direct-soldered to your ESC? That helps. The Feigao should run as smooth or smoother than a Neu. The Neu would run a lot cooler. If you want a Neu, why not wait for the MMM. That way you get motor and ESC for $300.

I would go 1515/1y with your current setup. Its used successfully by a lot of conversions on this board. If you try it out and aren't happy with it, sell it and try option two. You would probably recover a very good percentage of the motor's price.

Good point! I think I will just try that then.

Received the 1515/1Y today and I have to say that this is one awesome motor! I think that this motor actually runs smoother than my Feigao 8XL on the MM with the new firmware.

Thanks for the help guys!
