basic 4200 amps?
im running a basic 4200 in my rustler. i wanted to know if anyone has done tests to see how many amps it will draw on average including burst amperage. the reason i ask is i have 2 polyquest 3s4400 packs and was curious if it was safe to run it on one pack. one pack is capable of roughly 53 continuous amps but i would think thats borderline. i dont intend to run it often with one pack just occasionaly if i want a speed run. i would appreciate any info you may have on this. thanks.

Those packs will be fine. I run a Feigao 8L (rated around 80amps) on a 4s 4000mah pack. This buggy puts a lot of stress on the motor too. So, your battery will work perfectly. Just make sure that if you were using less voltage before, that you gear down.

As long as your runtimes are longer than 5 minutes, you should be fine!

If you're gonna do speed runs, running both those packs will give higher speeds than just one pack. Running one pack, the voltage will drop pretty low, but running 2 packs, the voltage will drop only 1/2 as much.
For normal bashing with correct gearing however, you don't need to run both packs. |
thanks for the replies. the past couple of days ive been running one pack without a problem, it will barely get luke warm. clocked it at 44.2 mph with gps, thats geared low enough that it will run cool and do wheelies at almost any speed. i will never go back to nimh!

Ain't it awesome? I got the 3s 3200 in my T4 and I often use the 4s 3500 and 4s 3100 in my T4 using a 3500 motor. I occasionally go with the Basic 5300 also with 3s and even 4s occasionally. With 4s, the thing is insane. It's pretty fast with 3s - over 45 mph with the Basic 5300 (I guess I use a higher gear ratio than you do with the 4200).
If I hit the gas, the thing will just wheelie and do some pirouettes and then spin on it's back. Not very good for the body or shock towers. |
