Nemisis xlt-3 from Fine Design
 

Anyone else ever use one of these? I got one in a package deal and wanted to use it in my Inferno GT conversion but i cant quite figure out if its fried or not. My 8xl geared 16/46 pulled 80 amps peak at the most on the road. Just on the bench changing only the motor, i was getting 100+ amp spikes when i hit the throttle with the pack voltage dropping in the 12.5 ish range. Will the low voltage create excessive amp draw? I do have a good Flight power pack i was going to try but just ran out of time today. I was also wondering if this thing just needed to be geared way lower than i have it. Any thoughts? The amp draw with the wheels off the ground has me worried. I don't want to fry this nice BK ESC. lol

That motor would be way too hot IMO. it's a 6XL or something like that. better get a feigao.. (same motor, better price)

Thats what was in there before. An 8xl though. It was plenty fast, but of course its never fast enough. :)

8XL is plenty for that vehicle.... I run 12XL on 6S and 8S and get great results..

just crank up the voltage.. :) (that's aqwuts motto)

:lol: the 8Xl is awesome on 6S... it's always nice to crank up the voltage... and out of all the cheap China motors that I have abused, only the LMT 2280 fails...

Im kinda scared to see what 6 cell will look like.. lol. Im think im at the limit of the BK 9920 thats in there as far as amp draws go. With my current gearing it will hit 100amp for a split second on acceleration. If i up the voltage to 6s can i expect amp draw to go up or down?

It still shifts too early too. Ive got the setscrew bottomed out! I guess the GT was never meant to go this fast. :) I need to find a longer wearing tire as well. The stockers dont have much left.

Amps go up as voltage goes up if you do not regear with a smaller pinion (under the same load, more voltage means more current).

Best idea for FD's XLT motors is the garbage can. They are too high kv and like to crack magnets, separate, and destroy perfectly good speed controls. I speak from experience. I'll never recoup my $650.00 wasted on FD crap but I can warn others. Get a Neu; worth every penny.

I remember when I started, he use to recommend the 18.61K for everything.. I've spent $$$ as well...

I own 2 nemisis motors a 7xl and a 9xl and I can say for sure that they are the best most awesome motors in the world...If your looking for something to fry an egg on! They also work fantastic as paperweights. Mike is putting the finishing touches on my inferno gt conversion mgm224/flightpower 5s/nue 1515 2.5df/ 2 speed tranny and mech brakes. Mike claims everything will run cool as a cucumber and have savage exceleration all the way to 50mph.

Oh so many people have been "burned" by Fine Design. The stories are endless, it seems. We try so hard to tell people to stay away, but so many don't get the message...Ya, me too.

I only bought a pinion from chris not so fine. It took about a month to show up, calls were never answered and multiple messages never replied to. I never dealt with him again.
