4s vs 5s =runtime

I'm looking to buy another pack to use on my buggy and my 1/8 onroad.

I can run either 4 or 5s on both cars, which would yield the longest runtime if they are the same (3700)mah?

I know there would be a significant difference in speed but I am not concerned about this.

Would one run cooler than the other, all other things being equal? ie.gearing, motor

If you don't care about the speed, there's no reason to go with a 5s. That is, unless you would like to switch to a lower KV motor. Difference in temps/runtimes will be negligible.

If you change the gearing to get the same top speed with either btteriesthe 5s will likely give you a longer run time.

18.5v * 3700mah = 68450
14.8v * 3700mah = 54760

More potential energy in the 5s pack.

The higher rpm the motor will turn will likly negate some of the extra energy, but by gearing it down to get the same top speed you should get at least some runtime advantage.

thanks guy's, I also just realized 4s would be the way to since I run mambamax on my buggy.
