Quark 80b or MM?

Ok so i was in the garage doing a little clean-up and i've found a quark 80b that i purchased some time last year...would this be better in the truggy or should i stick with the mm esc? i ask because then i could put my mamba back on my rustler...also could this run 4/5s power easily?

i need suggestions quick as possible thanks guys

+1 for mm truggy - quark rustler...

If you could keep the amps down, I would say it might be better. There is always a chance the MM will go up in smoke, when going out of spec. Do you know the expected amps for the setup?

no i have no idea...but so far 1 vote for the mm in truggy...over the quarker

80amps on 5s in a truggy geared for 40mph should be fine. I would stick to the mm if you will use 4s. The quark escs are good, I have a 65 on 6s in a 1/8 buggy, and so far it is fine. Quark's surge specs are quite high, not sure if that is BS or they are really that good.

well i'd rather use 5s or 6s if i could because im just that greedy however i wanna make sure the esc could handle it ya know...also if i run 5s/6s do i need to run an rx pack and disable the internal bec?

i'd rather run this because it's spec'd higher and that way i'd have a mamba for the rustler...and 1 mamba left that i have to have fixed...

Since you already have the Quark, I'd use that on 5s (maybe 6s if you can get it to work). If using only 4s, I'd go with the MM for the exta A rating.

The older MM's use the same FET and the same number of FETs that the 125B uses. So, the burst A would be better on the MM vs the 80B...

Yep, disable the internal bec and run a ccbec, or receiver pack. Some have issues with fully charged 6s packs making the esc "freak out" until the voltage drops slightly. I did not notice this with my 6s buggy. I would not gear too high either, 40mph sounds good to me and I gear mostly everything to that speed.

I ran a Quark 80B on 5s in a 1/8 buggy and pushed it over 60mph. The little quarkk actually held up fine. If you gear it down a bit in the truggy I bet that 80B might surprise you. Just make sure you have it mounted flat to the aluminum chassis to act as a heat sink or attach some sort of heat sink and fan to it.

yea imma run a 5s a 2s/3s maxamps set through it...i will not be gearing up...and if it doesn't work out i can always put the mm back on...thanks for your input guys

jhautz 04.11.2008 03:15 PM

Let us know how it does...

jhautz 04.11.2008 03:16 PM

What motor are you planning to use in this. That could effect the performance also.

Thunderbruiser 04.11.2008 03:17 PM

will do thanks for your input fellas will go out in about 20 min and wire her up and program her...haha playing some halo right now
