Muggy or Revo
I have it down to two trucks. I finally got to put my hands on a muggy yesterday and am very impressed. I also like the fact it is a true crossover between a monster and truggy. I also know there is a significant size difference between the two. I already converted one revo using the 3906 maxx tranny but sold it. If I do another I will use the nitro tranny.
That all being said, how is the conversion process for the muggy? Is there any major issues I should know about? I would assume this thing would stomp a revo in handling, am I correct? Assuming 6s on the Mamba Monster, what motor would be optimum to push this beast around 40-45? I am thinking either a neu 1515 2.5d or 1.5y. I know some others have done this, I just want to get a rough figure of what the final cost will be. What I want to do is buy a used roller from ebay or whatever. |
Might be worth considering a GEREVO with the 3905 transmission to... Prices will be down now...

I was going to do a Muggy and in the end I bought an 8ight-T and I am just going to put bigger tires on it..
If you watch and wait for a muggy you can pick up a rtr for 300 or less or I have seem some rolling chassis for 150 as a complete roller. Be patient and you will get a good deal.. Look at RcTech I saw a couple of guys that had pretty good deals on muggys over there.. |
I considered the same thing, but wanted a center diff and tougher 1/8 diffs, so I went with the Muggy. The 1515 2.5D is a great choice for motor in that as well. The only major issue is the stock chassis, I picked up a roller with the factory upgrade (hard anodized) chassis, as the stock chassis isn't the toughest. Check my sig for build thread.

My vote goes to the muggy. Great truck, bigger, badder, losi quality, original MT brushless conversion layout... To many +'s to name.

bdebde, you are one of the main reasons I started looking harder at the muggy. I had only given it passing glances before, but after seeing your thread then seeing it in person and looking it over, I was thoroughly impressed.

I looked at everything else first. This is it. It's on 4s now and real fast but as soon as I get my MMM, it will be on 6s with a 600XL Align motor.

the Muggy gets my vote...

The Muggy is great, but if the bashing terrain is really rough I use my E-LST2 instead.
