battery help
 

I have a 3906 emaxx with a mamba max esc and a fiago 8xl motor . The question i have is why are my batteries getting so hot when i only have the truck geared to go 30mph with 18 tooth pinion and stock spur 32 pitch. Im running 12 cells 3500 tenergys nimhs. the esc and motor stay under 150 degrees but the batterys hit 200 plus the other day after the 5 volt cut off . I would really appretiate any suggestions. thank you.

Nimhs just don't have the amp capacity feigaos seem to need. Your batts are being taxed by this high amp demand and I think thats what's causing the extreme batt temps. If you're running wot all the time thats not helping either. A bigger capacity batt will help, but isn't going to solve the amp issue, lipo or a123s cells can.

180 is way too hot to be running nimhs. Here's someone having similar prob and he's already seeing the effect that high temp has had on his batts.

do you know where to get some lipo packs that would best work with my setup.

If you have he cash, the NeuEnergy lipo's are getting good reviews. If cash is tight, I'm looking into the Zippy lipo's. Just get something with a high C rating. Also figure a charger/balancer (or a combined unit) into your battery cost.

Lots of threads on which lipo's are best. Seems to me that Any pack made with Enerland cells will do just fine (assuming the higher 20+ C rating). They can get very expensive so budget is everything. Just don't be too cheap or you'll have waisted resources.
