Monster Feedback

Seem to be quite a few people having issues with the Monster. Anyone here got positve feedback or even negative feedback on the Monster and what setup were you using?

Great results so far. 4s lipo scale/basher with a 20t 540. Lots of crawling so the BEC got a workout. I will plop it in my emaxx with the 1515 1y shortly and see how it does.

So far a few people have had problems that sound like the BEC going out, I wouldn't call it quite a few by any means. For every bad unit there are hundreds of good ones, and it is too be expected on the first run that there might be some baddies in there.

I read somewhere that you can use a External BEC instead of using the internal one?

johnrobholmes 05.11.2008 03:18 AM

You can, but it won't power the control board.

I wounder if it has something to do with you only running 4s. I wounder if 6s is causing the problems.

Yeah, starting to wish I went with 4S and not 5S

Anyone know what the go with warranty is? Or we'll find out tomorrow when CC is open?
What happens with freight? I don't want it to arrive, put it in my car, put the car on ground and then something goes wrong and I have to pay for it to go all the way back to America

sign Drift_Buggy

The way back costs round about 50 $ and a long waiting time :> (insurend)

horrorshow ^^

I think they have sold a lot more esc then just the three. With the numbers of escs that they are shipping direct to customers you are bound to get a few duds and when they all are getting found out at the same time it can seem like a lot. The failure rate is still most likely under 1%.

Sammus 05.11.2008 06:52 AM

Yeah, and shipping back to the states isnt too bad, I got my MM back to CC, registered+insured for $20, took 6 days to get there.

phatmonk 05.11.2008 08:18 AM

I received my MMM wednesday and put all of the connectors on set up the usb/computer settings and went to setup the receiver and no yellow light.I called Castle and they told me I waa the first to call with a problem we straightened that out downloaded the new firmware and went out to test the MMM and it performed flawlessly.I am running 4s and a Neu 15151.5d/f.It sucks that some of the MMM have been defective and some of these setups are the same as mine and that worries me.

kulangflow 05.11.2008 09:43 AM

I've already posted this in another thread, but I have positive feedback.

I ran mine on 6s2p a123 and 5s 8k lipos last night and it works great on both. I ran it for about 15 minutes total until it got dark. It was in a 3905 E-maxx with a 9XL geared 24/68.

I'm starting to worry as well. I live far away & a warranty claim will take a long time & I will have to fight customs again to prove that it is a repair unit etc. etc. Anyway, I'm still optimistic that things will work out.

DRIFT_BUGGY, I'm likely to get mine mid week. I think I will try it in my Jammin' running a Neu 2600kv on 4S 6000 PQ. I'll swap out my double decker MM. If weather permits, I'll be running in hot humid condition with ambient temperature in excess of 30 Deg C & humidity close to 100%.

It's a concern that a handful (3?) have a gone bad. But it's too early to know if there is a widespread problem.

I hope you guys that live across the oceans don't have any issues. But... at least we know that IF you do, it will get taken care of by one of the best companies in r/c.

I have an Mtroniks that I had to send across the Atlantic once... but they also did an awesome job and quickly replaced it at no cost. I was very happy to have it fixed for under $10 shipping. That's the kind of service Castle has too.

johnrobholmes 05.11.2008 12:26 PM

Castle has a one year warranty.
