1/5th...

Has anyone every done one of these:

Is the quality as bad as the prices suggest? I'm thinking you might be able to get 100 for the motor and have a cheap platform...

At the other end has anyone seen a HARM EP-1 or Hunter?

I'm not sure but those look very much like ones I've seen at the local shopping mall but I don't recall the brand. The ones I saw were almost twice the price and the quality looked like it may have been decent but hard to tell for certain without tearing apart.

I may be in the area of the mall later and will stop by to see if it's the same or not. But I agree that at the price it looks tempting to check out.

Maybe lutach or jzemaxx will chime in on this as they both have been looking into 5th scale quite a bit. For the price, it's seems worth a try though.

I didn't receive an answer on the 4WD 1/5 scale yet and I sent jzemaxx a PM to get it from the place he found. I can't comment on the quality of those low priced 1/5 scale, but some people have used them with great success. The electric 1/5 scale kits from Harm are priced nice as well, but we will know how legit a company is after someone buys one a get it . I personally would go with the 4WD models for the added traction, but the $299 for that 2WD car is good. I think they even come with front disc brakes and all I would do to them is make a custom motor mount and a nice battery tray to allow 10 to 14S lipos or lots of A123 cells . I'm sure they would make a killer speed machine or a nice efficient HV race monster. My biggest problem for not getting one is the time to convert one. I have most of the things needed except time. I will do one as time comes.

Looking at the car version, it says it is a artr, so I guess no radio? In any case, 300 bucks would do for a rolling chassis, good deal with the motor! I may buy one, but need to sell other things first!
