Question to the EVO builders!
 

A friend of mine and myself bought two revos to make into EVO's using Emaxx trannies (thx again dafni, ur idea looks like it has spawned many-a-evo's!)

I opened up the tranny area a bit and now can at least fit the E tranny inside, but I am wondering about the driveshafts. The revo shafts seem to rub right now, stokc sized maxx shafts work, but I would prefer the larger/sealed revo shafts. Do you evo builders run the stock ones ok? I could open the part in the front where they are rubbing a bit, or try to mount the tranny more to the one side (so less of an angle on driveline, as I havnt drilled mounting holes for the tranny yet).

also, has anyone found a good method for mounting up batts? I would really like to use a battery cup to give the battery the most support.

Hey R00ST, thanks for the credit! Good to hear I got you inspired. That's nice, makes me keep going.

At first I ran Maxx center shafts, and for me they worked well. Other EVOers have twisted them, but I was lucky! If you take front/rear shafts, and cut them to just the right lenght, (they don't have to slide) they should last a while. (another trick to prevent twisting is to incorporate a piece of a tuff nail into the slider, then the weak spot will be the yokes)

Anyway, now I run buggy style dogbones and cups. I got very very nice Titianium bones custom made through Mike. I'm sure he can get you some, I know he has to get a batch anyway, for the up-coming G-Revo craze.

The batts are a tricky part. Making something from scratch out of aluminium is my favourite approach.
Twinforce cups should work well, too. And contrary to rumors, the TF parts are still available. At least here in Europe.
But I could imagine many different solutions for batt trays. If you want to keep it simple, then how about some Asso cups on plain, flat alu plates?!

I still get feedback on my Revoxx now and then. Received pictures of almost exact copies of mine from a few guys. Always puts a smile on my face. Would love to see yours when you have it finished.
My truck is still going strong, btw. It's my favourite RC at the moment, and I drive it alot.

hey dafni, any idea on where to locate some TF battery trays? I was going to hack up an emaxx chassis, but I want to run 7 cells per side, and prefer to have the cells fully in the cups (where as with the E trays I would have to cut an end off so the extra cell can hang off).

tower has discontinued them, and I cant find a place on kyoshos site to contact them to see if they know where I could get some :(

and as an update, we finally got around to mounting up the trannies and hooked up the drivelines (using maxx sliders and hopefully they will surive, we will both be running hv-maxx's on 14 cells so not TOO much punishment).

I am dying to finish this thing. I havnt run an rc in about 2 months, and I own 8 of them! (all being sold but the revo project, just no time anymore) :(

Ask Mike. He is out hunting for some Kyosho parts for me anyway.
Kyosho stopped dealing with tower, I think. But here in the eurolands, their parts are available as usual, so I figure there must be a way to get them in the states.
