MGM 16024 old style, Is it worth sending for repairs?

I have an MGM 16024 that is glitching bad, It's the old style fiberglass cased one w/V.2.31 programming and plugs instead of wires. Is it worth sending back to be fixed? I think the reciever wires are the culprit, they are frayed at the esc and i tryed to lengthen them once to reach in my Gmaxx. It still works, except for the glitching. Is it worth sending back for repair and possibly update in program? Or, Am i better off getting a newer one? Is there any differences between the older and newer, except for the shrink and wires? I do know its an opto, so not worried about a BEC. I had some troubles with my 16018 (newer one) and got to send it in as well, Would it be worth it to send the old one in as well. I got some plans for an 8s beast and if this esc can be repaired, that would save me a bundle of money. Thanks

Considering that it is a nice ESC and they are worth a few bucks, I would definitely send it in. In fact you might write up something asking if you could trade up and get a reduced price on a newer model? Like the saying goes, you won't know if you don't ask. Even if you do get the old one repaired it is a good ESC as long as the repair is not too expensive. If not Then you have the optiion of just buying a new one. I have seen two of them sell on here for under $200 in the last month. I picked up one of them and I am looking forward to setting it up in one of my Maxx's down the road. Too many toys and not enough free time to work on them.

I bought the esc from Coolhand_country a moderator here, so i know i got it used. the reciever wires are frayed and i think thats the problem, should be an easy fix. I plan to go through Mike, he did the 16018 the first time it acted up and he knows more about dealing with MGM than i do, or any overseas manufacturer for that matter. I'll tell mike if replacement is recomended, do it, if repair and update can be done, awsome.Got to save some money up though, I think the 16018 should be free or cheap to fix, but this one might be a bit more. Will let you guys know what happens
