MGM160/7xl cell counts

I'm trying to decide if I run more than 14 cells on the MGM160/7xl combo. If I go to 8 cell packs, I need to buy a different charger and invest in a couple pairs of 8 cell packs. Therefore, I have to wonder about Lipo. Can the MGM160 reliably handle 5s Lipo and/or 16 NiMH cells? Is it simply a matter of correct gearing?

It is a matter of gearing with any brushless setup. The controller can handle it. A fan wouldn't hurt, either. I ran 5s Lipo on my 160/16 with no trouble.

the other question I had is will extra cells change how well the ESC performs at slow speeds? Some have said that the sensored brushless doesn't cog at low speeds unlike sensorless. This was one of the reasons I originally bought the HV-Maxx. I haven't noticed any cogging with 14 cells and this new powerplant.

You won't notice any cogging with the MGM controller.

I've was looking at the Warrior 9920 before and went with the MGM Compro due to availability. Would I notice cogging with the 9920?

Nope. Both are smooth controllers. the MGM is smoother with the factory settings, but with a programming cable, the warrior can be tweaked alittle to be just as smooth(just a matter of setting the acceleration curves).
