My Gmaxx build

Well, I ditch my original plan of using my thunder chassis for this build. Instead, I bought a used Gmaxx chassis.

Racerx suspension for the rear;

UE racerx shocks:

Series adapter when I go 2 x 3S down the road:

I'm still waiting for additional parts. I will update and post pictures as parts arrive.

By the way, I will be running a Medusa 36-60-2000Kv on 5S.

More pics. Made some changes too. I decided to use the gmaxx chassis plate instead of the one I made because I returned the 5S to the store and will be getting 2x 3s 25C 5000maH.

I flip around the tranny so the motor will be towards the rear. I'm still waiting for my UE monoblock for added length. Still waiting for the motor (Medusa 36-60-2000Kv) and batteries from DMA.

My trucks from left to right; Emaxx, supermaxx, Predator:

Once I get the monoblock installed on the Gmaxx, all 3 trucks will have the same length but the predator will have a longer wheelbase due to the UE setback arms.

looking good dude.

what kinda motor you going to be putting in it?

suicideneil 05.31.2008 03:15 PM

Medusa 36-60-2000Kv

I'll take that custom battery tray off your hands- PM me a price.

Sweet build...

George16 05.31.2008 07:48 PM

Sorry Neil but I'm keeping it for any future upgrades :).

suicideneil 05.31.2008 08:09 PM

Bah, humbug. Fair enough- GorillaMaxx should offer one just like that though especially for lipos.

TDC57 06.01.2008 01:38 AM

Looking good, great build… Which motor will you be going with?? How do plan on disrupting the weight with a 5s on oneside only:whistle:, inquiring minds want to know?

Thanks for your time and again great build…

George16 06.01.2008 08:11 AM

I returned the 5S and exchanged it for 2x 3S so it will be more balanced. I didn't realize how big the 5S was until I received it :(.

Update:
I just received the UE monoblock today and got it installed. However, I made a mistake. I was thinking about using the 100.5mm Thunder chassis titanium dogbone because of the additional length of the monoblock but it did not work. It was too short. I did not realize that I needed a longer than 100.5mm dogbone because the Gmaxx chassis allows the dogbone to be more horizontal compared to the angled way on the thunder chassis. I'm glad I have a 105mm (actually need 108mm center to center of pin) titanium dogbone (I don't know where I got it from :)). I had to use 2 little o-rings on each drive cup to keep the dogbone snug.

Pictures:
UE Monoblock. I bought 2. Let me know if anyone is interested in buying the other one.

I do like the homemade sprong, so much cheaper and just as effective, Im willing to bet.

Only thing I might suggest is to shorten the battery wires, and the wires of the series harness- less dangling wires is always good, and looks cleaner.

I agree with the dangling wires. it's not done yet so to speak. I will be shortening the wires and tucking them in using zipties :mdr:.

Anyway, I got tired of waiting for the Medusa 36-60-2000Kv so I ordered a 1515 1Y/F from Impakt yesterday. It was shipped the same day I ordered it. I just hope my MMM will not die when I test run it next week. I also returned the 5S Neuenergy battery I had and exchange it for 25C/50C 2x 3S 5000 mah lipos. This way, the truck will be more balanced.

TDC57 06.10.2008 12:04 AM

That's a great looking Truck George16....

I've got almost the same setup and it kicks butt on 6s, you'll love the motor it will keep things nice and cool.. What gearing are you starting with??. I noticed that you order the finned motor.. You will need to cut off some of the fins at the bottom where they hit the trans, not a big deal just an FYI..

Keep up the great work..

George16 06.10.2008 03:02 AM

Thanks Shaun. I will start with 51T spur and 20 pinion. I also have 18, 19 and 21T pinions just in case 20 does not work well. The only reason for the finned motor is, I can't wait any longer for a smooth can 1515 1Y. Every place I asked did not have it in stock.

My trusty dremel will be taking care of those fins :).

Anyway, I wish I'm still stationed in San Diego so I have access to all the nice lhs's.
