Rc8
I'd like to convert an RC8 to a full-on brushless, lipo competitive buggy (against Nitro RC8s)
I'm not sure what I'd need to do this conversion. So, I'd appreciate some help. I see that from Novak you can buy a complete conversion and electronics. I'm curious if that would be a competitive set-up? If not I'm looking for advice as to what would be the "killer" set-up and exactly what parts I'd need to do this! Thanks! |
The RC-Monster set up would be much more competitive than the Novak...
http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...od=RCMRC8mount http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...MFPbatterytray A motor: http://www.rc-monster.com/brushlessmotors.php An ESC: http://www.rc-monster.com/brushlesscontrollers.php A battery: http://www.rc-monster.com/batteries.php And thats all you need to get running, unless you also need a charger and balancer. |
Thanks for the links!
Is there a specific Motor and ESC combo I should use or will ANY of those work for what I want? Quote:

It depends on your budget.
if I was building a race buggy I would use a neu 1512(around 2000k/v), run a Mamba max esc with a fan and an external BEC, or a just go ahead and wait for the Mamba monster max, then for a battery I would go with a 4s neu energy 5000mah. |
Expensive set up:
- Neu 1512/2.5d motor - Mamba Monster ESC - Fightpower, Polyquest, or NeuEnergy 4s 5000mah lipo pack Less Expensive set up: - Feigao 8xl or 9xl motor - Mamba Max ESC with Castle Creations BEC - TrueRC, ProTek, or Zippy lipo pack (not available at RC-Monster) |
I converted my mbx-5 w/ the less expensive set-up due to the fact that I am not racing. If I were racing, I personally would go w/ the better motor, Neu, and better batteries...Flightpower.

Exactly what i've in mine, Neu, MGM and Flightpower.
