5s Truggy Motor?

What's the best? I've been looking at the Neu 1515 1y and the Mega 22/45/1E. Any other ideas?

I have the 1515 1y in a truggy on 4s I had planned on 5s and bought a big 5s lipo but its so fast on 4s i think i may leave it lol. I was thinking a 1515 2d might be a great 5s motor, or theres the pletty bigmaxx supposed to be sick stuff on 5s

Yeah. I haven't had too good a time finding a 1515 2d anywhere, though.

I didnt either, I figured id just ask mike or order it through Castle and wait 3 weeks. Diversity has 1 for $180 on clearance but it has the planetary gearbox on it for another $110, I dunno if you can take it off ? then sell it link

I would go with a neu 1515 2.5d. thats what im running in my CRT

Don't you think that's a little low KV for 5s?

gixxer 06.14.2008 11:02 PM

I think 5s on a 2.5d would be very good. I use to run 5s on a 1521 1y (1577kv) and it was a beast in my 8t.

I think jhautz runs the 2.5d on 5s. You can also try a search on youtube I know there are videos of that combo.

What sort of running do you want to do with it? And is there a chance you'll want different voltages later?
I use a 1515 2.5d (1650kv) on 5s in my truggy. It's good for racing with the right gearing, and it's good for fairly fast bashing with a bigger pinion. Temps are pretty good (usually less than 120f, unless it's a 100f day). I run it on 6s as well sometimes for bashing and it works well. There's still a fair bit of room to go up in voltage for a few speed runs one day.
This is it in my e-maxx a while ago. I could do ~30 minutes of driving like that and not worry about temps. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZMZeTJFA2f4
It's the only motor I've used on 5s, so I can't say if it's the best for you or not, but it is a setup I'm very happy with.

I dont think its to low of k/v at all. I havent actually ran it on 5s yet as im waiting on my MMM, but I ran my 10xl(1668 k/v) on 5s which is very close to the same k/v as the 2.5d, and it was to much power in my revo. I dont know what I would have done with more power. I really wished I would have went with an 11xl if I had the chance to change. Since the 2.5d is more efficient, and is a 4 pole it should put out even more power than my 10xl did. The only reason I didnt go with a lower k/v this time is because i was hoping my CRT could put down the power better than my revo.

I was running my 2Y (1100kv) on 9s A123 last time on the track and it was still a bit much. Thats only about 27K rpms underload. You really don't need crazy power for track driving or it becomes too hard to control and not overpower.
