Revo with proline 40 Road Rage

I was so excited to get these today but boy i was so disappointed!!! :grrrrrr::grrrrrr::grrrrrr::grrrrrr:

these 40 series shooked 10.9 on the richter scale!!! its rubbish...23mm hex isn't worth it...

has anyone had the same problem with 23mm hex? or is it just me?

i wonder if its because you glued the tires unbalanced. one of my tires shake/wobble alot more than the other 3. i dont know if it can be fixed other than ungluing them.

You have to balance tyres... just like a real car :P

My HPI sand paddles didnt need it though, smooth as, straight off the bat.

I've notice that nearly with nearly all tyres, the actual tyre is badly balanced, ie the rubber is thicker on one side than the other. I balance the tyre first by sticking bits of tape around the inside wall behind the tread - this way you dont need as much weight to balance, because its much further from the centre. My 2.2 dirt hawgs on rpm slingshots eg I'd glued without doing this and I cant get enough weight (using lead tape) on the inside of the rim to balance it before the weights start to rubb on the C-hub... bah, unbalanced it will stay...

ive never had this problem since ive got these road rage tires.... ive always used thick tape to wrap around tires before i glue it but it seems like its not working this time =[

blueb8llz 06.17.2008 04:53 PM

so sammus, how do you know which parts of the tire needs the extra tape?

Sammus 06.17.2008 07:37 PM

Pop the tyre over a balanced wheel, then you can either disconnect a drive shaft and install it in on the car or just put the wheel on a suitable sized piece of rod and give it a spin. it has to be able to spin freely. give a light spin and it will do a few revolutions and settle with the heaviest side down. put tape on the other side.

so when do you know if you have put enough tape? when you spin the wheel and it stops on random sides?

silly putty or similar works great too!!

Correct, you know you have put enough when the wheel keeps spinning smoothly and stops at random places.

do anyone of you guys put duct tape on the inside of your tires to help from ballooning? if so , do you guys put the tape to balance the tire before or after the duct tape to help ballooning?

your tires will still balloon after using duct tape I have also used the Gorilla tape HD sells about the same outcome...an idea I have is to dip in the tire in some sort of hardening compound to stiffen the rubber...I havnt tried this myself though...so far I havnt applied for the patent yet.....:lol:

blueb8llz 06.18.2008 07:30 PM

yea my tires still balloon after using gorilla duct, but i know it helps alot. maybe if you wrap the tire around twice, itll be alot better.

Sammus 06.18.2008 08:50 PM

yeah I do two layers of gaffa tape, then add little strips here and there to balance it

blueb8llz 06.19.2008 06:07 PM

ok my next set of tires i will do this trick. i have never heard of anyone doing this but it makes sense. hay since were on this topic, how do i balance the tire when it wobbles left and right? it spins smooth but the tire just wiggles left and right just a tiny bit but it bugs the heck outta me. so does this mean i should add strips of tape on the left or right side? i dont think so cus when i just mess with the foam then it will correct itself, but its like a luck of the draw, i really dont know what im doing other than just taking the tire out of the rim and adjusting the foam and if it still wiggles ill mess with it again and keep doing this till it spins straight...theres gotta be a easier and correct way to do this?
anybody got tips for me?

Some tires and foams you can push a mounted wheel side to side inside the tire and it stays until rotational forces centers it again.(sidewall flex). After tapping(belting) not much you can do but get the beads seated correctly and glued on nice and even. (foam in bead bad) Also I like to leave CA fingerprints all over the rims just in case they get stolen CSI can trace them back to me.
