Losi Lst/Lst2/Aftershock questions
Hey guys, I might be picking up Team Losi Aftershoc and had a few questions..
What pitch are the 2 speed gears? And does anyone know of an adapter that i can use the standard nitro 2speed pinion on a 5mm shaft motor(besides the Tekno clutch)? I plan on running 5s, is an 8xl gona be too hot? |
You need this.... http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...rcm2spdadapter
And yes i think you might need to go to a 9XL... |
the stock pinion is all one peice...
No offense to mike but that is expensive, 12 bux for the adapter, then 24 for the gears.... the stocker is like 11 bux |
Mikes parts are made in smaller batches, not mass produced and his gears are also higher quality, you get what you pay for.
|
ehh true..
|
You can get the two screw on gears from losi. The lst had an optional clutch bell that was threaded. Not sure if the gears are any cheaper than mikes, but you need an 18 and 24 if you want to match up with the stock spurs. You can also get tin coated gears too.
|
Stock setup is 18/25 and 63/70
might get 19/26 pinon |
well the only other adapter that i know of is the FD one, but again it is about the same price as Mike's plus the gears. Also FD's is alot heavier because its basically the LST clutchbell but with an epoxied adapter inside. So mikes is alot more light weight, more compact and just works better overall. On ebay there is a spur gear set up that is a +2 i believe and it would help with the top end if thats what your looking for, once in a while people get them for less then $40, and if you lucky you can get one like that too.

this is what my cuzin got for his lst2 cnversion.
http://hdrcvideos.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=11818 my dad and i could probally make a simpler version that could use the stock clutch bell. i was making one but school got in the way. |
i was thinking to turn an aluminum blank down to the ID of the clutch bell. then have something like a setscew or pin hold the two together..
|
I would use a pin over a set screw for that type application. I think it would work but will be on the heavy side.

Is there a toad with lung cancer in the background of this video?

hmm i dunno. i was like this sounds wierd.
waht could it be?? but brushless boy you have a good idea. to make it lighter you can machine some of the material out. |
you could just throw the whole tranny in the trash. With all the nitro stuff and drive train gone my LST2 is over 2 pounds lighter now with batteries and all.

Looks nice! Do you have more pics? What kind of setup are you running, batteries etc? What kind of speed and power are you getting as well?
Dropping 2lbs off an lst2 is a good diet seeing as it is a heavy beast. |
