Can a bad connection cause heat?

This is referring to my MM ESC. I put a call into CC and left a voicemail to get back to me. However I started to recheck my work again and I noticed the male TRX connector I put on my ESC, the prongs are not all the way in like the Y series adapter I got. I can pull the leads right out. I tried pushing them in (supposedly they snap/lock into place) but no matter what I do I cannot get them to go in all the way. It still powers everything just wondering if this could be the culprit to my hot ESC. Also anyone have a good suggestion on how to get them to lock in place? I am up to the line or maybe just a tad over on the metal lead like I am suppose to be. Thanks

I cant help you with the TRX connectors, I've never used them... but a poor battery connection can certainly cause all kinds of issues. Heat being one of them.

I just ordered up all Deans.

With the traxxas connectors, you need to make sure that you did not solder past the little line on the flat gold piece. If you did, they will not snap together. I use a small flat blade screwdriver to pus on the gold connector to pus it into place. Out of about 50, I have had at least 10 that are really hard to snap into place.

For the record, I prefer deans, mainly cause the trx plug is much bigger.

The bad connector would only cause heat at the connection point due to the increased resistance. It wouldn't affect the ESC at all. There must be something else going on if the ESC is getting too hot. Have you checked your driveline for any binding?

Thanks for the replies guys. No binding at the driveline. I think I just got a bunk ESC. I ordered a "brand new" one last night to swap out and see what the difference is. I am also going to be going with Deans plugs as well. They look much easier to solder to me from the vids I seen.

Cool. I hope that works out for you.
