bringing my hyper7 back from the dead.
back in ~2002, i bought a used hyper7pro, used for an amazing price.. well it was an amazing price, cause it took overr 3 months for me to get it, but he had included a brand new RB motor, that I was able to ebay, to more than make up what i paid for the buggy in the first place.. but the buggy was beat. bad bearings, cvd's, diffs, chassis, ect..
back when maxxtraxx was alive, I converted the buggy to brushless, first with dual lehner 5300's, and then later with a b50 8s, which I was planning on running dual, but never got a second controller for it.. last pics I had were from 2003: http://img410.imageshack.us/img410/8053/dualbl11nr5.jpg http://img507.imageshack.us/img507/313/dualbl5xe8.jpg http://img505.imageshack.us/img505/8668/dualbl4jf9.jpg http://img507.imageshack.us/img507/6124/dualbl2xj8.jpg well, someone posted, a video on youtube as "the fastest brushless hyper 7", so i decided to rebuild my buggy, and make him work for the title haha. no pictures right now, i'll get some as soon as i get a camera... i got a video though, and i'll hopefully get more vid tommorow. went through, got a new screw kit, new bearings, and new cvds. it needed new diffs as well, but read somewhere online that lsp ring and pinion gears fit on the ofna diffs, but I didn't feel like taking apart 6 diffs to swap gears, so i just threw the lsp diffs in the hyper :). I'm using lsp center diff mount, and mike's lsp motor mount, as well, but the holes don't line up, so I just screwed them down with one screw each.. I was kind of worried, but the top brace holds them perfectly square, and havn't had any problems .. yet. and whatever springs were on the buggy were WAY too weak.. chassis almost bottomed out w/ just the motor installed.. so I'm using the hardest set of springs i could find, for my lsp.. as a result, they're perfect strength, but too long, so the ride height is jacked up, but should be great for jumping. oh, motor, batt, ect.. same setup from my LSP: neu 1515 2.5d/f quark 125b true rc 5s1p 5Ah (I ran 5s2p in my lsp though) doing a little math, and using brian's calculator, I got this info from my test run: 21min runtime. average of 14.29amps, "burst": 85.71amps.. batteries are only rated for 50 constant, and 75 burst, but I had ran 5s1p in my lsp before with out any problems, so I figured it wouldn't be a problem in this buggy. gearing was 20/46. the only thing I could even tell had warmth was the battery. but it didn't get more than slightly warm. I should mention, I have a fan and heatsink on the quark, and a fan over the motor though. It took me a while, but I finally found out that your body is newspaper comics. Very cool.

yeah, but i made the body before xxxmain had the glue made for putting paper cutouts on the inside of the body before painting.. I used elmers, and after a flip or two, they started comming un attached. not to mention, the paper's yellow colored now haha. I'll prolly try and clean all the glue off it, and paint it, as it should be perfectly fine.

how do those onroad tires perform on the buggy?

which ones? the ones that are on the buggy were used in the videos.. old set of offroad tires, that were turned to slicks, after one 5min race with my LSP. the other tires are sportwerks, just bought em yesterday, and I'll be trying them out on sunday for parkinglot racing.

new battery design..
can anyone tell me if this is ok? someone said that it may cause the cells to become out of balance, because the bottom's on velcro to the bottom plate, it wouldn't be cooled, while the top cell would.. getting rid of the heatsinks isn't a problem, but the battery's the only thing that's been getting warm.. not sure how warm is too warm.. I know, i'm exceeding the amp ratings, and a decent 20c pack would make the problem go away.. i was talking about the sportwerks tires, im thinking about buying them, are they thick?

they seem pretty thick, pretty soft, and VERY grippy.. were only $20 a set as well. didn't race today, but i might go out jumping in a bit..
