E Revo or Revo Platinum?

I am on the fence about which truck to get and race. I was going to move my 1/8 buggy setup to the new monter truck to race it. I currently have a Neu 1512 2d, MM modded and Castle BEC. It has been flawless on the buggy, but I wanted to race MT to take a break from 1/8 buggy.

So I am torn with which is the better kit for racing. I can get a Revo Plat. or a race ready roller and add the Tekno RC conversion kit or I can get the E-Revo and a few new packs. So which is better to start with? I know little about Revo's. My last MT was the Savage when it first came out. That has long since been sold off.

a truggy is a better racing platform.....the CD really helps out, the Revo CD isnt as good, but if you go Revo I would go with the race ready roller

I would be tempted to get the E-revo, Its been engineered for electric and i think i like it better. With split packs you can run a 1/10 buggy or stadium truck as well on race day with the same packs

I agree w/crazyjr..the e-revo is ready to go w/out any mods.

I would go the race ready roller

E-Revo...shows support for the development of Electric Trucks.

Just got mine, first race with it (stock) this weekend...modified soon.

I would do the Platinum Revo with the Neu.

Well thats already what I am doing anyways. I dont particularly care for the plastic chassis and split battery packs. The Platinum come out of the box ready to race(other than that nitro burning thingy)

I have one of the first gorilla revo's, sold or built. I personally think its the best solution for racing, the heaviest part, batteries, are lowest on this chassis. The revo conversions, in my opinion, have the center of gravity a bit too high for racing. I have not built one, so please don't flame me, but just my opinion. The E-Revo is the comprimise of both the gorilla and the home made conversions and possibly the best solution. I have 800 in mine with the revo (purchase price) and the chassis alone, I seen the E-revo for 449 in some places, so thats about half price on the gorilla setup and about 100 less than most nitro conversions

Thanks for all the info so far.

I have Neu Energy 4s packs that I bought from Mike here. My question is where/how would I mount them on an e-Revo? That was why I even considered getting a nitro and converting it. I don't want to have to buy all new packs.

Just buy the teknorc battery tray, esc mount and the rcm motor mount.

The Tekno RC Battery Tray for Revo will bolt on to the chassis of your Revo 2.5 or 3.3. It will take the place of the fuel tank and right side radio box. It can be used in conjunction with other conversions besides the Tekno RC Brushless Conversion for Revo.

Durable injection molded Delrin construction will handle most any situation. Accommodates batteries up to 150mm X 50mm (although we have seen slightly bigger batteries get squeezed in). The height is limited only by the body and straps you choose. Batteries that are too big will make the vehicle unbalanced however. Anything below 600 grams is recommended, which leaves a lot of options.

If you are trying to run those pack in an E-Revo, they will not work. You need to use split packs on the E-Revo.

if you want to stay below 600 grams that would limit you to a 4s 5000 pack, my 6s 5000 pack is 800 grams it is heavy to one side but if you are a basher and not a racer iis not a big deal
