soft brushless setup
 

Guys my son has a supermaxx with a plettenberg maxximum and a schulze controller.
He has also a stockmaxx with some modification. So the stockmaxx has modified Diffs with Integy cases. MIP CVD's and Center.
Now, when the stock motors are over, I think to replace this with a brushless set. Now I think for the modified stockmaxx it would be not possible to handle a similar power like the plettenberg maxximum. For this reason I am seeking something with less power and long runtime. It should work with 12-14 cells.
However, I read about the novak brushless set. Sound interesting, but some people told me, that it is very proprietary. So I had only one choice of motor and controller.
For the same price, I can get a 9920 and a 8l Feigao. But some people told me, this Feigao has similar power like the maxximum has.
So I am really confused. Is there nothing between?
What would you recommend, if you want to do a "light" brushless setup? It should be durable, because I don't want to repair this truck every weekend.

i would say with a good drivetrain which you have, the 6xl would be a good choice on 12-14 cells. the 7xl would be good to and gives you the option to go up to 18. i must warn you though, these motors will have just as much if not more power than the plettenburg but are smoother and much cheaper. i would say with some idlers from mike and a strobe slipper it would be a good system. if it were me i would put the feigao in the supermaxx and the pletty in the stocker.

Yes, the idlers from Mike are already installed in the stock system. But if you are looking for something with less power, what would you choose?

Regarding the combo (Schulze and Plettenberg) you are right, there are too expensive for what they providing to you. But I have this stuff already.

the hv-maxx would do well but i here there are some problems with it. that is about the only thing that i am aware of to achieve what you are looking for. the only other thing i can think of is getting a good brushless system and turning down the epa on your radio. that is probable the best thing to do.

Holy cow squee. I wouldn't say a 6XL on 14cells in a mild brushless system!!! That thing would take off.

Gusti, for a nice, decently powered motor on 12-14cells I would look towards either the 10L or the 7XL. The 7XL would give nice long runtimes, and on 12-14cells it would be somewhere in the mid 30's I would guess. A 7XL combined with a 9920 would give you a completely hastle free set-ups. Maintanence would be zero, and temps would be absolutely no problem. Plus, the advantage of the 7XL over the 10L is if you do get the urge for more power, the 7XL can be run on 18cells quite happily.

do you know what the truck weighs? You may want to look at the lehner xl series. They are nice motors as well. Has some good power and such to. How fast are you trying to get it up to as well? Depending on the motor you get. You should get some decent run times.

Boys, even the 7XL (on 12 or 14 cells) will outrun the Maxximum (note, Gusti has not the BIGmaxximum). The torque is just huge.
Keep in ind it's for his son, and he already has a Plett.

The 10L was a much better suggestion, in my opinion. Or maybe the Lehner Basic XL 2000. But if you really want something "mild", the Novak HV would be a good choice, I think.

However, the Warrior 2099 would be on top of my list, Gusti. On 12 cells, it should last a lifetime. Just in case you decide on a non-sensored system.
