neu 1515 smooth can or finned
Hi Guy's, I have a chance to buy a brand new neu 1515/1y smooth can motor for 220.00 and my question is will this run cool enough on 4s in my rc8 buggy or do I need the finned? Does anyone know how much cooler the finned motors run?
i run finned always. The only reason i would go smooth is if there was not enough room.
Well you can get a new 1515 2.5DF for 220 as well with free shipping from a store so not much of a bargain...
1515 is a bit much for a buggy - I'd be looking for a 1512. |
is anything really a bit much. MORE POWER!
All though drive train will go fast. I agree maybe a 1512 would be a better choice in the long run. My 1515 throws my MT around like a rag doll so a buggy will probably disintegrate. |
Agreed.. a 1512 (whatever) is great on a buggy and will save you approx 65 gams of weight, 1515 1.5y will do fine on 4s thou.
You will have greater gearing options with a (Smooth) vs. a finned can. |
I believe the temp difference is about 20 degrees F. as posted on another forum by Steve Neu
Thanks guy's...a 20 deg difference is alot...FINNED ONLY.
I run a smooth can in my Revo and there are no heat problems
Azjc, which neu are you running the 1515 or 1512?
I see nevermind...lol.
