revo diff problems

i was rebuilding my revo's diffs today and im doing the rear one right now and after i put the new diff oil in and put it back together it seems really hard to turn. like once i had it all back together (in the bulkhead with the arms and axials on) it seemed really hard to turn with the axials. i even tryed the front one witch i have not done yet and it was really easy to turn.

i took it apart and it all seems right. even looked at it with the exploded version on the traxxas site and all the orings and washers are where they are needed to be.

any ideas.

Did you put the same weight diff oil in it?

Here's a wierd question; Is it smoothly hard to turn, OR are there obvious "bumps" along the way that make it hard to turn? The former would suggest that you used a higher weight oil like George16 said, while the latter means you should re-check the diff shims. Also, if you are feeling this while it is installed in the truck you may want to check your driveshafts for binding. I've learned over the years that just because you put it back together the way it came apart doesn't mean it will work properly.

This sounds like a diff shimming issue to me as well. You might want to pull the diff apart again, and put it back together without screwing it together, and check for the same binding. If it's still there, then move the shims around, or if necessary remove shims. Then add oil, and put the screws in.

^ Good idea... Check it without the oil inside. That will eliminate one variable...

i figured it out. the screws on the diff were not all the way down. i was afraid to screw them down to much and strip out the diff cup like i did the last one.

everything is good now.

thanks guys

Ahh so it must not have been meshing properly. Glad you figured it out!
