Some reciever pack questions
I tossed my CC ubec because it was messing up and have decided to just stick with a small reciever pack. I have wired up 4 AA nimh in series which under load gives me 5.1v. I have one 40mm fan and one 30mm fan along with a futaba 2.4 reciever. The problem is my range stinks; well it's just not as far as my old stock AM radio. I think the problem is the reciever is suppose to run on 6v. So the questions are....should I just add another AA or try two small A123? http://www.radicalrc.com/shop/?shop=1&cat=199
I would like to use the A123 because it will cut down charge time plus be lighter but I think the volts might be too high. Can I just charge them to 3.1v and still have plenty of mah left? I really doubt I'm even drawing 1.5 amps with everything but I just don't know. Any help would be great. thanks. |
Another NiMH cell would be fine. A lot of nitro vehicles use 5 cell NiMH packs.
You could go with 2s A123 cells, but the voltage would be a little high IMO. Not sure what loss in runtime you'd get by charging to 3.1v/cell though... |
here is a link to some rechargable Rx packs both Nimh and Lipo

Did some looking and I think I'm going with these http://www.batteryspace.com/index.as...OD&ProdID=3476 If I wire them in 2S2P and set the charger to 3.1ish and then I'll go from there. Still 68 grams for the lithium is alot better then 140 grams for the nimh. Thanks guys

Would 1 amp be ok? These have a built in regulator...

With the servo I think it might peak over 1 amp. Not liking the weight and the size would be a problem but thanks for the link.
I like that site though. Did you see this MONSTER lipo http://www.batteryspace.com/index.as...OD&ProdID=4403 Never knew they made a 35 pound lipo. |

What if I get the 4 loose cells and wire this in and shrink wrap all of it. Will I be able to charge threw this? If not it's ok but I just like everything nice and neat and the less wires and connectors the better in my mind. |
