What to do with a V1 MMM ???

I'm waiting for a V1 MMM to arrive this week. It's still unused so I'm wondering what to do to give it the best shot at surviving. I see that a BEC is probably a good idea, is there anything else?

skellyo 07.26.2008 09:55 AM

Drive it like you stole it. No sense in babying it when the V2's will be out very shortly and the V1 is still under warranty.

jhautz 07.26.2008 10:41 AM

Another optio if you want. I think that once the V2 is released you can send it in and exchange it if you want.

But I'm with Skellyo on this one.

No reason to wring your hands over it. Drive it and have fun, if it fails send it in for upgrade.

The problem is that if you wanted to drive it for fun and get nothing but smoke at your face ( beg your pardon for such a bad expression).

I say if you did not operate it yet, post it for sale at ebay.com or just...well...use it and have fun like Skellyo, Jeff and Texas recommended.

If it were me, i'd use it with a BEC and a different fan strapped to the top. Then when/if it blows just send it back for replacement.

My V1 is working great. I do not use a external bec and still run the fan. I have replaced the fan 5 times.

just drive it till it fails - or till it doesn't fail and the V2s are out. Castle will replace non-working OR working V1s for V2s. Though the working V1 replacements will have second priority under the actual failed units.

Chapito 07.26.2008 02:50 PM

Jeff, your still alive! Was wondering since we have'nt heard from you. I'm guessing you have'nt recieved a V2 yet? Hope you'll get it soon and be able to attend the rescheduled RC Pro electric down south.

On the V1, I'd run it! You might get lucky like I did and have virtually no issues at all. I've got about eight races on mine now and it is performing admirably. Of coarse, I have'nt touched it since the initial install. Scared to program, swap to another vehicle, unplug the wires, or even look at it funny till I have a V2 in my hands.

Hmm...

So, it's actually quicker to get a replacement if I cook it? I guess that means let 'er rip!

Yeah, exactly. But of course, no one gets them till they come out so there's gonna be some wait either way.. But the cooked ones have top priority according to what I've read.

Drive and have fun with it until it quits.

big greg 07.26.2008 09:40 PM

unplug the fan from the bottom, remove the fan all together, remove the top all together, my buddy runs it with no fan on his truggy, with a 1515 1.5d and it dont get over 150 after a 20 min main, you will be fine

KINGSKID 07.26.2008 11:36 PM

I'm driving a v1 with almost 50 runs of 15 minutes each. I replaced the fan with one on top of the esc case and plugged into the rx. works flaulessly!

jhautz 07.26.2008 11:51 PM

out of 2 that I have significant time on, one died but not until it had at least 20 hours on it, the other is still kicking. Muliple fan issues on both. I'm running the fan strapped to the top on the one that is still going.
