I know why my 10xl burnt up.
2 Attachment(s)
the picture is how it sat mounted in the 8xb, and the second picture show the culprit of my troubles , guess they got rubbed bare and were shorting across the chassis:tongue: sucks but atleast i know to double insulate my motor wires from now on and dont let them sit on the chassis or anything else.
only got about 2 hours before this happened. my Neu 1515 2.5d will be here tomorrow to replace this. |
Are you sure it's the motor that is burnt up? If the motor shorts out externally, it tends to affect the ESC.
|
That sucks..seems someone else had a trying day other than me...sorry to see your blown motor.
|
That sucks. Hopefully the ESC is ok. Actually, the motor is probably still ok, just a bit of re-shrinkwrapping might be all that's needed.
Whenever I mount my motor, I always think about what the wire could possibly contact. Since they tend to bounce a lot (which isn't good for their longevity since they will eventually break), I like to make some sort of arm to support them. A couple examples: http://scriptasylum.com/bl_conversio...s/hyper8_2.jpg http://scriptasylum.com/bl_conversio...ges/revo_2.jpg And to prevent the wires from wearing against the bare arm metal, I either wrap the metal in heatshrink (Revo) or use a bit of foam (Hyper8). You can't see it in the pics, but the Revo even has a little support arm mounted to the rocker post. |
nice idea there BG, the controller is fine (tested it on 3s in the slash to make sure) but the motor has seen 260* so im pretty sure she is burnt lol, there is ZERO resistance when turning the shaft it will actually freespin for 3-4 seconds if you flick it with your fingers.
besides its too late the 1515 from mike will be here tomorrow, i dont think ill race it tomorrow night may run practice to test but id like to test it out really well before trying to do another 20minute main, i cant afford to mess anything else up since the Neu broke my r/c fund for a month or more. |
Brian that is a great idea, I will add that to my to do list this weekend!

Well, at least keep the rotor. Even somewhat weakened, it should still make one heck of a refrigerator magnet.
Every once in a while, someone posts a request for one of the brass/bronze spacer thingies, so you may want to hold onto those too. |
Maybe you could try to re-magnetize the rotor? I think that would be a fun little project. :mdr:
