MM Brake Problem
It seems I can only use drag brake with my MM to keep it from doing frontflips. Seems like I saw info on this, but a search came up dry.
The data- 14-ish pound custom running 3906 driveline (beefed, yes), 20/64, 9XL, 4S, MM, DX3.0. DX3.0 settings- brake 50% R/B, subtrim zeroed MM settings- Forward-brake-reverse Brake 0% Drag brake 30% Brake curve linear Throttle deadband Average Reverse throttle 80% What I noticed on both the DX and the MM, anything above about 15% will throw the truck over itself quite harshly lol, and below 15% results in no brakes and also no reverse. So I'm under the impression something is not right with deadband? The brakes are so aggressive that it seems like it's going right into reverse, bypassing any neutral zone. Would changing my brake subtrim on the DX3.0 to a negative value? Or will that just give a slight pause, then still endo on me? I want the dragbrake on zero, so I can coast when I want, also I don't really want anyone else driving it til I get this figured out, I'm afraid they won't remember to not touch the brake! I tried to play around with the endpoint on the CastleLink brake graph, it won't let you move the 100% absolute value, I tried deadening the curve up to about 98%, truck still trips over itself, and as I said above, if I try changing the value on the basic settings page (the numerical value one), above and below 15% is all or nothing, respectively. Any help is greatly appreciated! |
turn the drag brake off, set the regular brake setting to proportional w/ reverse lockout then the brake at about 60% and adjust up or down from there. I have found 70% and 80% on my radio to be the best for my e-revo

Dicky, no way to do this and still have reverse?
Say it ain't so.... |
Have you tried re-doing the endpoint setup on the MM?
|
Not sure what you mean MetalMan, if you mean re-syncing DX to MM, then yes, with same result.

That's It!
Huge thanks guys! That's all I had wrong, I thought reverse lockout meant no reverse, should be called delay or something, or maybe I should just be smarter lol. Fixed! |
bdebde, it's always been at 50%. I'll play around with that more now that I know what I was doing wrong. Thanks all, this was my only problem... this means I can drive it the way I want to now!

i had the same problem, i would try and bump the brakes and the truck you just flip, i had to check the owners manuall (boo)
|
ive also had this issue using the JR SX3, which im pretty sure is exactly the same without the 2.4gig.
i either had no brakes or reverse or STRAIGHT to full brakes and or reverse (with lockout)... it was really weird. my controller fried before i could work it out... but, on my AM radio its great, so its something with the menus (god i HATE LCD radios... analoge trims are MUCH easier... imo.) |
Ok so I'm not the only one. Me feels a bit better. Going to the manual:
1. Reverse Lockout (default) 2. Forward/Brake Only 3. Forward/Brake/Reverse In this case I assumed the default was not what I wanted, and went ahead and changed it to F/B/R, probably forgetting what I had read in the manual (I did read it!) and #3 at a glance is what I wanted, but now I seem to remember thinking why are #1 and #2 like the same thing? So Ok, they're not. And it WAS going into reverse! But WHY would anyone want that setting, seems unneccessarily hard on the running gear...... ? |
when you get the recipe right it's a beautiful thing
Just an update and a big hellyeah for the assistance!
Brakes are now at 50% ESC and 55% Tx and the beast still endos a little. I only wish I didn't go a month before I asked about it. I could have spared it some minor damage. I thought I was going to be impressed with the whole brushless thing, I waited 3 years to do it and it WAS worth the wait, as I built it to be brushless originally. It is crazy punchy on a mild 9XL 4S MM setup with all the tweaks at zero. I'm running 20/64 but I have no doubt I could go all the way to 26/64 and it would still have plenty of nut. This forum is THE place! Thanks all... |
