Brushless savage questions

Hello,

I bought a savage x roller and the flm kit. I'm going to run it with the MMM esc , don't know wich motor to use yet.

This are my questions;

What motor for my savvy? It's going to run on 6s MaxAmp, 5000Mah

And i heard different stories about braking and the gearbox:

Can't you brake with the motor when using the 2-speed??
I'm going to use the orginal braking system but do i need to shut down the brake??

And if i lock the transmission into 2nd gear then i can brake, right?
And how to lock it into 2nd gear...

Greetz,
Joram

And how to lock it into 2nd gear...JB weld the 2nd gear clutch to the gear and remove all gears like 1st that are not needed.

Thx for the answers.

The NEU 1515 2.5d is very expensive.... I don't have that much mony, i need so much things yet: spectrum transmitter, MMM, Lipo, motor....

Is the Feiago 8xl an option, i know it's low-budget but the is a difference in prices..

It will work but will run very hot and there is the saying you get what you pay for. I would just save and get the neu you will be happier in the end.

Oké than i save another month and get the NEU :)

I'm going to build the savvy this week when my brushless flm kit arrives i post some pics then:D

yeah i went the 8xl route and i regret doing it now. It is more expensive for the neu but well worth it. Also if you dont have the maxamps lipo already i recommend you get a different battery as well. The truerc packs are priced good and work good. maxamps IMO are horrible and will not work well at all. If you do already have i suggest sell it for what you can. and get a good lipo.

I don't have the ESC, Lipo, motor and transmitter, the rest comes this week:)

Where can i get Truerc packs? i live in the netherlands so paypal paying and international shipping is required.

I think i'm going crazy....????

When i sayd zippy, people told they don't give enough punch, and now they do???

I already wanted to order some Zippy 4800 Mah batteries... but some said go for FP, Truerc..

Greetz,
Joram

bl-is-future 08.11.2008 11:43 AM

Well you want the best go FP, but truerc and zippy are good for the money. But yes they have less punch. I say save and get the FP.

azjc 08.11.2008 11:45 AM

IMO the Enerland based packs (Flightpower, Neu, Polyquest) are all about $300 for a 6s 5000 pack, in my expierence I have a 6s 4150 zippy pack that didnt have quite the punch the FPs do but not bad well worth the $119. If you dont get a FP the Zippys are your next best option.

bl-is-future 08.11.2008 11:53 AM

yep less punch but a lot less cost too so you have a double edged sword.

jhautz 08.11.2008 12:17 PM

I cant tell the difference between my Zippy H 5000 pack and my PQ 5000 pack while running it. The zippy has a tendancy to go out of balance more than the PQ, but I think the reduced punch is BS. If there is I cant tell.

bl-is-future 08.11.2008 12:21 PM

i notice between my truerc and FP but it is not significant to where it is not usable by any means. I say slightly and it is a very slight difference between the 2 for the half of cost in price.
