Is this temp is too hot???
I've take my e-revo for a first real bashing session this week end in a send pit. I've a Neu 1515, 2.5d/f, an MGM 16018 controller and i run it on 6s.
I'am gear for about 41 m/h. When i've run it on the street somes days before, i've never exceed 130 on the motor and ESC, and about 86 on the li-po. But this week-end, on the send pit, with lot of WOT in a very soft sand, and multiple hill climbing, i've take the temp after about 15 minutes of realy hard bashing, and it was 165 on the motor and ESC, but the li-po never exceed 100. Is this to high for Neu motor???? I'am plan to gear it down 2T on the pinion for the next sand pit bashing session:whistle: But this day was realy funny, and i can easily kick the ass of a Losi eight-T truggy with an OS 28XZ in it:party: Thank you! |
I don't think those temps are excessive but gearing down a tooth or two definitely wouldn't hurt either. If gearing down drops the temps a bit it would at least give you a bit of piece of mind.

i dont think its too high, the other day at the track in my 8xb my 1515 2.5d on 5s was running 158-165 at the end of 30 mintues, while my mamba max was only 120, yea thats right only 120 i was quite surprised i guess i need to gear up, i was only geared for 38 mph which gave me great control on the inside of the track, maybe 42-43 mph would even out my temps.
but in your case dropping a tooth or two like you planned should make a noticable difference in your temps. |
OK thank you, i find the 160 on the MGM little high to my taste, because lot of guys here tell that the MGM are suppose to run verrrrrrrryyyyyy cool:neutral:
But for sure, bashing in a sand pit is very hard on the electronic. I'll make larger hole in my body windshield, maybe this will help a little bit too. I've 6 holes of 3/8" of diameter in the windshield, and same thing on the back windshield too, but i think that i'll completly open the front windshield. |

Run it and have fun, your temps are fine. Running on soft sand adds a pretty heavy load to the system. Everything in it will run a bit hotter than on the street.

OK thank you all, i think that i'll keep my actual gearing (24/62, i run the V2 hybrid buggy ratio), because i have try the 22T pinion, and my truck seam to have a realy noticable drop in power:neutral:
Maybe it is because the motor have less load on it , do you think that,s a reason why it seam to not pull as hard as when i have the 24T pinion:neutral: |
I think its more the sand
