mamba max heat issues
Just got new mm but its running really hot 120 in less than 5 min. on velion motor. PLZ HELP added fan havent tried it yet
120* isn't too hot. What truck do you have this setup in? What are you using for a battery when it heats up this fast? How fast is the vehicle geared for? I have more Q's but I'll let you catch up before I ask more.
ran it again with the fan it deffently helped this time it was running on 12 cell nimh for 5 min and was 120. would a extra cap help? would a bec help? its in a E-maxx geared 16/66.
from what I've seen they tend to get up to temp quick but stay fairly consistent once they get there. But the vehicle and gearing have a big role. Guessing you probablly have a rustler. I used my mm in my vxl rustler for awhile with 76/23 gearing. Plenty fast and although I never checked temps I could run over 30 minutes straight without it thermalling. Check your temps after 10 minutes and see what they are.

The velieon is waay to small of a motor for an emaxx. You should take a look at the XL feigaos. Also I would use a BEC on the MM with 12cells NiMH.
ill look into a bec. or would a cap be better?
caps have nothing to do with heat, your not drawing that much current, the MM has a linear bec that brings the 14/4v input voltage down to a steady 6v. all the excess power is dissapated as heat.
get a bigger motor CC bec is a switching regulator so its like flipping a swich on and off really fast to bring down voltage, be sure to disable the MM's stock bec |

And the MM has a 5v BEC, so it's burning off even more energy as heat than you think. Getting a bigger motor won't decrease amp draw... Changing the load will, though. The idea is to have a motor that is sized such that this motor operates more efficiently than motors of other sizes. But since Chinese motors have lower efficiencies to start out with, it is often easiest to switch to a larger motor that has more surface area to dissipate heat. But that has nothing to do with the ESC's heat... |

i understand that but i doubt those nimhs will max out the mm:lol: |
the hottest my motor got was 150 and esc was 120 so it seams to be doing fine.
thats within the limit, maybe decrease timing a little bit
ok, the motor seams fine in the E-Maxx it can do a wheelie at 3/4 throtle, and can keep up with a rustler VXL on 2S.Thanks for your advice. gonna do some more testing tomorrow night because it like 110 during the day.Ill keep everbody posted.
