MMMv2 Fan control? Patrick?
 

I ran it at the track yesterday & put a total of 1 hour of run time on my MMMv2. It ran fine but I'm not sure if the fan is working or not. For the first couple of packs when I brought the car in the fan was running, after that I did not see it run again. With the fan control how do you know the fan is working??? I'm not complaining but I have an concern, If running without the fan voids the warranty and there is no way to know for sure if the fan is working unless you get the MMM hot enough... you see where this is going. If the fan runs all the time then I will know when it is broken thus replacing it & not voiding the warranty. If the fan never runs I will never know if it is broken or my set-up is just too cool for me to see it run.

a good way to tell is temp it, if its over 140 or so, and no fan, then its not working

Turn off the power switch and when you turn it back on the fan will run while the ESC initializes.

:oh: Well then My MMMv2 is broken because it does not run (the fan) when I turn it on. Last night when I got home I put a new fan in and it did not run when I turned on the unit so my fan did not die but the fan controller must have. The fan connector looked OK.

That's not good. Mine runs from the time you turn on the switch until all of the tones are finished.

It only runs during a cold start -- which requires that you have power removed for a few minutes.


The fan controller is designed to run the fan if it fails... so if the controller dies, the fan should run all the time.

Patrick, I think after replacing the fan at home last night, that should qualify as a cold start correct?

Should be. I'd check the connector though -- make sure that it is attached correctly. Like I said, the fan controller is designed to make the fan run all the time if it fails.

Patrick the fan connector is solder well & solidly attached the the CCA. The fan will run when removed & powered by a 5V supply. The connector Ohmed out to the board OK on the +V side but on the ground side I had a little trouble getting contact inside the connector. I found alot of conformal coating inside the connector which I cleaned out & then had no trouble ohming that connection to the CCA's ground. I tested the whole unit wired in the car again and the fan will not come on.

Update: Talked to Thomas at CC & he said he would send me out a new one with a mailer to return the bad one. Again, great customer service at CC.
