Help getting emaxx working

Im just trying to get the emaxx running again. Its been about 1 1/2 years since the last runs and Im pretty sure the battereies are shoot. I just have a few questions if you can help me with about getting her going again. First of all I have a emaxx with a feigao motor, bk warrior 9920 controller, UBEC, Blue bird servo, and stock receiver. I stopped the last time playing with her becuase the controller started to overheat and smoke. I dont know if the controller was bad? the UBEC was bad, I just dont really know why. then the emaxx would stutter when I apply gas on the trigger control.

So basically with all the new setups and equipment now days what would be some of your recommendations to get her going again. I basically want her fast and long lasting. I dont bash too hard. Just at the parks and streets. No high jumps and stuff. Was wondering if this would be able to go to Lipo batteries. or should I just stick with NiMH? Just need some help to get her going again. Thanks for all the help and taking time to read this long reply. Makana

Moved this post to a new thread to keep the FAQ clean of general questions...

Well if youy know your esc is smoked you def need a new one. If you've waited this long you might as well order a MMM and wait the couple weeks till you get it. If your motor is good you might as well use it till it isn't or your unhappy with it's performance. Lastly I would have to recomend dumping your NiMh batteries and charger in favor of the much more powerful Lipo batteries and the charger to go with them. Way more power than NiMh, lighter weight, and longer run times. No matter what Lipo batteries you choose they will far out performe your NiMh cells.

I guess I need a little help with which controller is pretty good, which motor you would recommend and what lipos is decent also. Is there a link where i can read up about Lipos. I guess its been such a long time Im still stuck in the NiMH age. If you have help i would greatly appreicate it. Ill try to check around in the FAQ section. THanks again, Makana

How big is your budget? I love my Spektrum DX3R radio but that will set you back $300 As for info on Lipos MaxAmps.com has an info section. There Lipos aren't the highest quality but IMO pretty decent for the money. Enerland based cells seem to be all the rage on here, I don't have any though. I've been pretty happy with my Maxamp packs. No matter what Lipo you go with they will blow your mind compared to NiMh packs.

check out the zippy packs on hobbycity (hong kong site) they are the cheapest and should beat the maxamps packs. (even if they were the same, the cost difference is quite large)
u will probably want 4s (14.8v, comparable to 15-16 nimh)
